Delegation of Lang Son province attended the ASEAN-China Conference on Agriculture Cooperation and Poverty Reduction in Nanning, Guangxi, China

From September 16 to 18, 2025, the delegation of Lang Son province led by Ms. Dinh Thi Thu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, together with representatives of the leaders of the Departments: Ethnicity and Religion, the Office of the Provincial People's Committee and officials of the agencies attended the ASEAN - China Conference on Agriculture Cooperation and Poverty Reduction held in Nanning City, Guangxi, China.

This year’s conference focused on the theme: “Discussing Smart Agriculture Cooperation and Poverty Reduction – Joining Hands to Develop New Quality Production Capacity”, with the participation of representatives of agricultural agencies from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, along with international organizations, experts, scholars and leading enterprises in the agricultural sector.

Within the framework of the Conference, the delegation of Lang Son province and delegates from other countries visited digital agriculture models, smart agriculture, rural development projects and agricultural resort enterprises in the Nanning area; attended the China - ASEAN Expo with the "AI + Agriculture" exhibition area, and learned about new technological achievements such as smart machinery, big data platforms, and remote sensing monitoring systems serving modern agricultural production.

On September 18, 2025, at the official opening session, delegates listened to speeches from the leaders of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, representatives of the Ambassadors/Consuls General of ASEAN countries, leaders of the agricultural sector of various countries, and international organizations on trends, models, and experiences in cooperation in agriculture and poverty reduction. The thematic discussions focused on innovation in smart agricultural technology, resource optimization, development of high-quality production, cooperation in responding to climate change, and ensuring regional food security.

The conference witnessed the signing ceremony of the “Agreement on cooperation in preventing and combating cross-border animal diseases” between the Guangxi Veterinary Research Institute (China) and representatives of the agricultural sector of the northern border provinces of Vietnam, including Lang Son province. The agreement emphasized the importance of coordinating the control and prevention of animal diseases on the border, contributing to protecting production, promoting trade and developing sustainable livestock farming on both sides.

The conference resulted in many new cooperation initiatives, including the proposal to build a China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone version 3.0, and the signing of four major agreements on: animal disease prevention, smart fisheries development, agricultural technical cooperation, and freeze-dried monk fruit production. These are important foundations for building a green, efficient, smart and inclusive agricultural system, aiming at developing an increasingly strong border area.

Lang Son province's proactive participation, signing and experience sharing at the Conference demonstrated its active role in integrating and expanding international cooperation, making practical contributions to agricultural development, new rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction in the locality and region./.
