Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Doan Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its support in connecting and introducing the delegation of overseas Vietnamese to visit Lang Son province; he also provided a general overview of the province's geographical location, potential, and strengths. He affirmed that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, an important bridge contributing to the dissemination of national culture and spirit, and fostering friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and countries around the world.
Also at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed that Lang Son always appreciates and acknowledges the sentiments and practical contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community over the past time. He hoped to continue receiving the support and cooperation of the overseas Vietnamese delegation in fields such as economy , trade, culture, tourism, education, logistics, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and tourism…

Continuing the program, on the morning of April 25, 2026, the Overseas Vietnamese delegation visited Huu Nghi International Border Gate, offered incense at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the fight to protect the northern border; interacted with teachers and students of Dong Dang Primary School; and visited and interacted with officers and soldiers of the Huu Nghi International Border Gate Border Guard Station.
Speaking to the overseas Vietnamese delegation at a meeting with officers and soldiers of the Huu Nghi International Border Gate Border Guard Station, Major General Vu Quoc An, Deputy Political Commissar of the Border Guard Force, provided information on the situation regarding the protection of national sovereignty and border security, the characteristics of the area, and the specific difficulties of border guard work in border areas with complex terrain. Besides the task of protecting territorial sovereignty, the border guard force also participates in supporting ethnic minority communities in border areas to develop socio-economic conditions, stabilize their lives and livelihoods.
Comrade Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, also emphasized the significance of this journey in helping overseas Vietnamese understand more deeply the policy of "protecting the Fatherland early, from afar, and preserving the country before it is in danger."
On behalf of the overseas Vietnamese delegation, Mr. Nguyen Le Hung, Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese People in Poland, said that the visit had helped overseas Vietnamese better understand the work of protecting territorial sovereignty on land, as well as the efforts of border guards in guarding each border marker. He also proposed mobilizing the overseas Vietnamese community to donate and support the construction of patrol routes and border marker inspection roads.

Also within the framework of the program, on the afternoon of May 24, 2026, at the Provincial People's Committee headquarters, Mr. Doan Thanh Son, along with representatives from several relevant departments, agencies, and localities, met and worked with Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Minh Hai, from the National University of Singapore – an internationally renowned materials scientist and pioneer in the technology of converting waste into aerogel. During the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Minh Hai introduced and shared information about the technology for processing several products from pandan leaves into biodegradable aerogel.

This technology has the potential to reuse natural resources, contributing to waste reduction, ensuring environmental safety, and limiting pollution. This technology is also suitable for research and exploitation of pineapple leaves in concentrated growing areas in Huu Lung, Van Nham, and Tuan Son communes, Lang Son province, covering an area of approximately 26.5 hectares. Utilizing agricultural waste and by-products from pineapple cultivation to process into valuable materials not only contributes to environmental protection but also opens up new development opportunities, enhancing product value and increasing income for local people.
