At the meeting, Dr. Sonho Kim, Director of KPF's Media Research Center, shared that he had been to Vietnam many times and was very impressed when visiting the Temple of Literature, the first university in Vietnam; emphasizing that Vietnam and Korea have many similarities in culture and history, especially the tradition of studiousness and self-reliance; believing that Vietnam with the right development direction will have many great strides in the near future.

Korea is currently a country with a strong press and Internet development, and like Vietnam, in the digital age, the press systems of the two countries are facing the problem of fake news spreading on social networking platforms. KPF hopes to exchange and cooperate to prevent fake news, which is a concern for all countries in general, Vietnam and Korea in particular, in the digital age.

KPF was established in 1962, and has undergone many name changes and mergers. In 2010, the Foundation officially became an agency of the Korean government. Currently, the Foundation is under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea.

With the motto “With the Press/With the People”, KPF carries out the task of enhancing journalism capacity with basic training courses for newcomers; training managers and people working in newspaper offices; training under the commission of newspaper offices, mainly teaching theory; international cooperation in training and fostering journalism skills…

KPF operates in five core areas, of which the Foundation is the agency entrusted by the Korean government to carry out all communication activities of the government, ministries, and sectors... The Foundation receives 10% of the total amount of money spent on these communication campaigns and activities, and that is a stable source of income for the Foundation to carry out activities to promote the development of journalism.

Like Vietnam, print newspapers in Korea are in a period of decline, and television is also losing a significant number of viewers. Current news is accessed by people through online newspapers, social networks and other digital platforms.
