US Navy ship visits Da Nang city

On the evening of December 8, a US Navy fleet including the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli and the cruiser USS Robert Smalls docked at Tien Sa Port (Son Tra Ward, Da Nang City), beginning a friendship visit to Da Nang City.

The fleet of more than 2,000 officers and sailors, led by Rear Admiral Thomas Shultz, Commander of the US Expeditionary Strike Group 7, made a friendly visit to Da Nang City.   4 days from December 8 to 11.

The welcoming ceremony took place respect at Tien Sa Port Bridge, with the presence of leaders of the City Department of Foreign Affairs, Naval Region 3 Command, City Military Command, City Border Guard Command, Da Nang Port Border Guard Command, Foreign Affairs Department of Military Region 5 Command, representatives of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Ministry of National Defense , Navy and related units.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang City, 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Vietnam - US diplomatic relations. The visit of the US Navy ship to Da Nang City contributes to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2023. With its potential in tourism, culture, economy and hospitality, Da Nang City is always ready to be a bridge for defense - security cooperation activities, cultural - sports exchanges and experience sharing between the two navies.

During the visit, the ship's commanding officers paid courtesy calls to the leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee, Military Region 5 and Naval Region 3. In particular, the US naval forces exchanged expertise and participated in sports with officers and staff of the Vietnamese Navy, interacted with children at the Hope Village and students at the University of Foreign Languages ​​(Danang University), and also had cultural and tourism tours in the locality.
