
On the morning of December 7, athletes were present at Terminal T2 of Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) to complete procedures to depart for Thailand to participate in the 33rd SEA Games, the largest sports event in Southeast Asia.

The farewell ceremony for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation was attended by Director of the Vietnam Sports Department Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet and representatives of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation, creating a motivating start for the athletes' journey.

Under the leadership of Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, 81 members set off this morning, including Union officials, coaches and athletes from cycling, canoeing, swimming, jet skiing, sepak takraw, gymnastics teams... carrying great determination and expectations when entering the regional arena.
The Vietnamese Sports Delegation to the 33rd SEA Games consists of 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches, and 19 experts, who will compete in 47/66 sports, with a total of 443/573 events. The 33rd SEA Games will be held in Thailand, opening on December 9 and closing on May 20.

Expressing his gratitude for the thoughtful coordination and emotional farewell ceremony, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, emphasized that the entire delegation set off with the highest determination, carrying within them the will, enthusiasm and Vietnamese spirit to overcome their own limits, aiming for the highest achievements.

“The Vietnamese sports delegation will bring the will in their heads, the fire in their hearts, the strength from within, overcome their own limits, demonstrate the Vietnamese spirit when competing, as instructed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Departure Ceremony, to compete to achieve the highest results, bringing glory to the Fatherland,” said Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh.

Radiant in the red uniform of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, rower Nguyen Thi Huong (standing in the middle) shared that at the previous SEA Games, canoeing was not included in the competition program, so at this SEA Games, she and her teammates are more determined to strive for the highest results, bringing glory to the Fatherland.


The atmosphere before departure was joyful, confident and determined to strive for the 33rd SEA Games of the entire Vietnamese Sports Delegation. Currently, many Vietnamese sports teams are in Thailand, and there is an advance team working here to ensure the best logistics work.
In addition to the participating athletes, the sports delegation also includes many members of the logistics team and medical team.

The main members of the Vietnam Sports Delegation will travel to Thailand to attend the 33rd SEA Games from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation departing from Hanoi will depart from Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) at 9:15 am. The delegation is expected to arrive in Bangkok (Thailand) at noon the same day.
Tomorrow afternoon (December 8) in Bangkok, the Organizing Committee of the host country Thailand will hold a flag-raising ceremony for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation. After this ceremony, the delegation will enter the first major activity at the 33rd SEA Games - the Opening Ceremony taking place on December 9, with about 200 members participating. Two athletes, Le Thanh Thuy (volleyball) and Le Minh Thuan (karate) were chosen as the flag bearers to lead the delegation.
