The Vietnamese Sports Delegation must combine sportsmanship with national spirit.

On the afternoon of November 28, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the sending-off ceremony of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation to the 33rd SEA Games.

Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee; leaders of ministries, branches, central agencies; leaders of the Vietnam Sports Delegation and athletes and coaches participating in the SEA Games.

The Vietnamese Sports Delegation is participating in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand with a force of more than 1,100 members, including 841 athletes who will compete in 47 sports and sub-sports, out of a total of 66 sports held at the sports festival. This is a force that is carefully prepared, fully ensuring professional standards and showing high determination in the competition task at the games. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation aims to strive for 91 to 110 gold medals, aiming to maintain its position in the leading group of the entire delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.

Speaking at the Departure Ceremony, representatives of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation and athletes clearly expressed their readiness to enter the journey of competition at the largest arena in the region; the spirit of solidarity, the tradition of resilient competition and the determination to conquer new achievements, with a strong message of the spirit of "confidence - discipline - professionalism", firmly stepping into the regional arena.

On this occasion, many organizations and businesses sponsored, supported, accompanied and cheered on the team of athletes, coaches, experts and officials of the Vietnam Sports Delegation participating in the 33rd SEA Games. The delegation representative presented funds to support the people of the Central region to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

In his speech of encouragement, assignment of tasks and awarding of flags to the Vietnamese Sports Delegation attending the 33rd SEA Games, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the role of sports and the attention of the Party and State to sports, as well as the achievements that Vietnamese sports have achieved throughout history, especially at the SEA Games arena.

The Prime Minister said that the SEA Games is both the largest sports arena in the region and a common festival demonstrating the qualities, will and spirit of the nations, contributing to strengthening the solidarity and good traditional friendship in ASEAN.

The Vietnamese Sports Delegation coming to the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this time not only has the goal of achieving high results, but also carries a great mission - demonstrating the maturity of Vietnamese sports, showing the image of a renewed, friendly, disciplined and ambitious Vietnam; affirming the stature, position and prestige of the country.

Regarding the flood situation that has caused particularly serious consequences for people in many localities in the Central and Central Highlands regions, the Prime Minister said that under the leadership of the Party, the entire political system has joined the people in promoting the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, "national love and compatriotism", making efforts to minimize damage, quickly overcome the consequences and soon stabilize people's lives and production and business activities.

The Prime Minister thanked the Vietnamese Sports Delegation participating in the 33rd SEA Games for allocating funds to support people in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. The Prime Minister said that the spirit of resilience in overcoming difficulties and national love and patriotism run in the "blood" of generations of Vietnamese people. This is also the strength and great source of encouragement for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, coaches and athletes entering the 33rd SEA Games.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes and believes that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, coaches and athletes participating in the SEA Games will bring with them the spirit of overcoming difficulties, strong will and courage to each race and each match and achieve the highest results, so that the "red flag with yellow star" will fly high in the regional arena, bringing glory to the Fatherland.

Believing that, to have today's elite squad, each athlete, each coach and expert has gone through a long journey of hard training, overcoming their own limits and accepting silent sacrifices, the Prime Minister highly appreciated and warmly commended the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, relevant agencies and units, the entire Vietnam Sports Delegation, coaches and athletes for their careful preparation in all aspects, contributing to creating a solid foundation to achieve the highest achievements at the 33rd SEA Games.

The Prime Minister noted that with “far-sighted vision, broad thinking, deep thinking, and great action”, Vietnamese sports not only competed successfully and hosted the SEA Games, but also reached the level of successfully competing and organizing continental and world-class sports tournaments such as the Asian Games (ASIAD), the International Sports Games (Olympics), and World Sports Tournaments (World Cup)…

The Prime Minister requested that each cadre, coach, and athlete be fully aware of their responsibility to “compete with all their might, surpass themselves”, consider each match and game as a final; compete with the greatest effort, highest determination, break their personal records, and aim for regional records.

Requiring the promotion of fair play and the beauty of Vietnamese culture, the Prime Minister pointed out that competition must be fierce, with honesty and nobility, but with absolute respect for opponents, referees and spectators; each member of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation must demonstrate the role of a "cultural ambassador", contributing to spreading the image of Vietnamese people who are benevolent, peaceful, intelligent and civilized, contributing to consolidating and tightening solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the people of Southeast Asian countries.

Coaches and athletes must absolutely comply with discipline, order, and standard behavior; uphold the spirit of solidarity and unity in will and action; strictly abide by competition rules and international standards; maintain a civilized lifestyle, and ensure absolute safety in health and security throughout the sports festival.

Directing to focus on ensuring the best conditions for expertise, logistics, and health, and promptly supporting the Delegation to successfully complete its tasks, the Prime Minister emphasized that millions of hearts of domestic sports fans are turning to the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, coaches, and athletes - "the yellow star warriors" and placing all their trust and hope in you with the "red flag with a yellow star on your chest".

Believing that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation will bring into full play the spirit of responsibility, Vietnamese mettle, Vietnamese will, Vietnamese spirit, compete bravely, win gloriously, and bring glory to the Fatherland, the Prime Minister believes that the success of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games will be a source of strong encouragement and support for the entire Party, people, and army, contributing to building momentum, consolidating confidence, and promoting the strength of great national unity to strive for the highest, compete to achieve achievements to welcome the 14th National Congress of the Party; contributing to building a strong and prosperous Vietnam, and making the Vietnamese people increasingly happy and prosperous; and steadily advancing towards Socialism.
