The 33rd SEA Games will open on December 9. This Games is not only a regional sporting event; it is also a place where the will, courage and aspiration of Vietnamese sports are tested and shine. Each athlete of the Vietnamese sports delegation entering the SEA Games arena is entering a journey of competition for the flag, for national pride and for responsibility to the Fatherland.
The Vietnamese sports delegation attending the 33rd SEA Games has 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches, and 19 experts competing in 47/66 sports, participating in 443/573 events.
Under the leadership of delegation leader Nguyen Hong Minh, 81 members set off on the morning of December 7, including delegation officials, cycling, canoeing, swimming, jet skiing, sepak takraw, gymnastics teams, etc., carrying great determination and expectations when entering the regional arena. At around 11:30, the delegation will arrive in Thailand.
Carefully prepare for SEA Games 33
Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh emphasized: "In just a few days, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games - SEA Games will officially begin in Thailand. This Games is not only a regional sporting event; it is also a place where the will, mettle and aspiration of Vietnamese sports are tested and shine. Each athlete of the Vietnamese sports delegation entering the SEA Games arena is entering a journey of competition for the flag, for national pride and for responsibility to the Fatherland.

"The delegation will bring the will in their heads, the fire in their hearts, the strength from within, overcome their own limits, demonstrate the Vietnamese spirit when competing, as instructed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the departure ceremony, to compete to achieve the highest results, bring glory to the Fatherland," emphasized delegation leader Nguyen Hong Minh.

With the goal of continuing to affirm the position of Vietnamese sports in the region, and at the same time preparing for the 2026 ASIAD and the 2028 Olympics, the requirement is to build a strong and in-depth athlete force; deploy training in a systematic and scientific manner; ensure full logistics and medical conditions so that the entire team is ready to compete with the highest spirit and determination.

Therefore, immediately after the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnam Sports Administration conducted a comprehensive review of the athletes and coaches nationwide, clearly identifying key sports in the direction of focusing on the Olympic sports group. On that basis, the national teams were strengthened and reorganized, and at the same time, proactively selected athletes with outstanding abilities and great potential to win medals to be included in the list of preparations for the 33rd SEA Games.

Training is carried out in a focused manner, ensuring compliance with the scientific training cycle. Athletes are able to improve their physical strength, perfect their techniques and tactics through intensive training at national sports training centers. Many teams are sent to train abroad to hone their competitive spirit, compete with international standards and update modern training trends. The application of sports science, from technical analysis technology, biomedicine, nutrition to injury recovery, is enhanced and implemented synchronously, contributing to improving the quality of preparation of the entire team.
Foreign experts continue to accompany many key teams, playing an important role in improving professional skills, building tactics and maintaining the stability of the force."
Ensuring safety and the best conditions
The delegation leaders also emphasized that the planning and budgeting for training and competition activities, equipment and uniforms, as well as ensuring travel and accommodation conditions in accordance with the requirements of the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee were carried out carefully and thoroughly. Training and competition equipment were inspected, upgraded and supplemented to meet competition standards.

Wishing Vietnamese sports to complete the target of being in the top of SEA Games 33, winning from 90 to 110 gold medals.
In terms of health, doctors and medical experts are mobilized to regularly monitor the health of athletes, especially during periods of high intensity training. Anti-doping work is strictly implemented; training courses and internal inspections are deployed to ensure absolute compliance with WADA regulations and to maintain the reputation of Vietnamese sports.
The delegation members were fully informed of the regulations and discipline in their activities and competitions. Coordination plans with the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee and the Vietnamese diplomatic representative agency in Thailand have been prepared to ensure the safety, security and communication of the entire delegation during the congress.
