On November 28, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with relevant units to organize the Workshop "Artificial Intelligence - Breakthrough in Digital Export", attracting representatives of many associations, businesses and technology experts to attend. The event aimed to share experiences, orientations and solutions for applying AI in production and business activities, especially in the fields of e-commerce and export.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Thi, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said that Ho Chi Minh City identified comprehensive digital transformation, e-commerce development and AI application as key tasks to support businesses in innovating business models and forming an effective and sustainable digital ecosystem.
The goal is for the digital economy to account for about 20% of GDP by 2025 and 30% by 2030. In the industry and trade sector, e-commerce is considered a pioneering field leading digital transformation and digital export.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Thi, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, spoke at the workshop.
"The Department of Industry and Trade is committed to accompanying businesses in the process of digital transformation, green transformation and sustainable development, contributing to building a modern and creative city in the context of strong growth of the global digital economy, AI is becoming a core technology, contributing to reshaping the growth model, value chain and competitiveness of economies" - Mr. Thi acknowledged.
Sharing at the workshop, Ms. Vu Ngoc Lien, Director of International Business of KSN Vietnam Production and Trading Company Limited, said that AI helps businesses significantly reduce human resources, improve efficiency and shorten work processing time.
Ms. Lien cited that in the past, an international business department needed 5-6 employees to ensure digital marketing, store care, customer feedback across time zones, keyword optimization, and technical content preparation.
"Now, only 3 people can operate smoothly. AI supports customer filtering, checks the suitability of each market, automatically responds to initial questions, helping us focus more on order processing and product development," Ms. Lien cited.
According to Ms. Lien, the revenue from exports via digital platforms of enterprises in 2025 will increase by about 300% compared to traditional marketing methods. Learning and applying AI is not too complicated when platforms like Alibaba.com fully train new employees.

Mr. Dinh Duy Linh, Deputy Head of Training and Science and Technology Department - Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, shared at the workshop
Meanwhile, Mr. Dinh Duy Linh, Deputy Head of Training and Science and Technology Department - Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, affirmed that the application of AI in enterprises depends on the professional capacity and technology exploitation mindset of the staff.
Mr. Linh believes that businesses need to train skills in using tools, organize effective coordination departments and determine investment levels corresponding to needs - from content production, individual marketing to large-scale automated data analysis and customer care systems.
"Although AI creates content quickly, the "core story" of the product still has to come from the marketing and communications team. Businesses need to define their brand identity, product characteristics and unique messages to avoid AI content becoming mainstream. AI supports production, but human creativity and market understanding still play a decisive role," Mr. Linh emphasized.
According to international reports, the global digital transformation market size in 2024 is estimated to reach more than 1,000 billion USD and is expected to exceed 4,600 billion USD by 2030. The AI market alone is forecast to increase more than 20 times in the next decade.
A representative of the World Trade Organization (WTO) assessed that AI could contribute to increasing global trade value by 34% - 37% by 2040 by reducing transaction costs, optimizing logistics and expanding export opportunities, even for small businesses.
