However , along with opportunities, local tourism businesses are still facing many challenges.

After the merger, Dak Lak tourism has many prospects for breakthrough development.

Mr. Le Trong Nam, Director of Ban Me Travel Investment - Trade and Tourism Services Company Limited, shared that the merger of Phu Yen province into Dak Lak is expected to diversify tourism products with a combination of sea and mountains. However, tourism businesses are also facing challenges in tourism human resources and initial difficulties in transportation.

The human resource issue is considered one of the biggest obstacles today when Dak Lak tourism industry is lacking a professionally trained workforce. In fact, the province's trained tourism workforce is not much compared to other tourism-developed provinces. This shortage is not only in quantity but also in quality. This reduces the ability to provide international standard services and lacks competitiveness. The above "soft barriers" are creating a significant inertia, hindering the development of the province's tourism industry.

Commenting on the difficulties and challenges of tourism enterprises, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Anh, Director of Biet Dien Tourism and Hotel Branch, said that competition in the market is increasingly fierce. Moreover, the high input costs make enterprises face financial difficulties. Besides, the opportunity for digital transformation to improve the management capacity of enterprises is not yet synchronized.

"For natural resources, especially forest areas, it is also necessary to plan and assign the main responsibility for tourism to businesses clearly. On the other hand, to increase attraction and retain tourists, community tourism needs to be expanded and invested in more systematically" - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of Kotam Community Tourism Joint Stock Company, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Province Tourism Association .

Many businesses in the tourism industry also shared that currently, complex administrative barriers and a lack of clarity in planning, especially land use planning, make it difficult for businesses to implement long-term and large-scale tourism investment projects. This situation not only wastes time and resources of businesses but also hinders attracting investment capital from outside the province.

To support tourism businesses to overcome barriers and seize opportunities in the new period, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Director of Kotam Community Tourism Joint Stock Company, Vice Chairwoman of Dak Lak Tourism Association, the province needs to have macro policies, especially in the field of agricultural tourism - a potential strength of Dak Lak. At the same time, for tourism businesses to develop, there should be separate policies and guidelines, especially in regional planning. The province needs transparency and clear zoning in order to end the situation of spontaneous tourism development, which has caused consequences such as products being made without consumers. At the same time, clear zoning according to ethnic characteristics will help create unique tourism products, not mixed up and make the most of the diverse cultural advantages in the province.

“Dak Lak province needs an investment policy for cultural conservation that is linked to more strategic and sustainable tourism development. Turning cultural heritage into profitable tourism products will create economic momentum for the community and cultural organizations. This will help conservation work no longer depend entirely on the state budget but become more autonomous and long-term. However, in addition to support from the State, businesses also need to reach out on their own, be creative, innovate and use digital transformation to reach more areas. The most important thing that businesses need to aim for is quality and honesty in promotion,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh shared.

Regarding the state management agency, Mr. Le Phuc Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that to remove difficulties for businesses, there needs to be coordination between many departments, branches and units. First, it is necessary to review all obstacles in investing in developing the tourism service industry to make proposals to the province, such as on planning and land use issues. For the cultural sector, the unit will support businesses in determining the tour framework from the East to the West so that businesses can build suitable tourism products. The Department will also help businesses promote and advertise tourism products on smart tourism apps.

It can be seen that Dak Lak is facing great opportunities from regional connectivity and abundant natural and cultural resources. However, to realize the potential and meet the expectations of tourists, the province needs to urgently remove the long-standing "bottlenecks": from improving the quality of human resources to issuing clear planning policies for tourism, especially linking cultural preservation with tourism economic development. Sustainable development can only be achieved when there is a joint effort between strategic vision from the government, departments, branches and the spirit of autonomy and honesty from the business community.
