According to VNA correspondent in Havana, Cuban Deputy Minister of Agriculture Telcel Abdel González and Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long, along with leaders of the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture, witnessed the contract signing ceremony.
According to the contract, the Vietnamese company Hoang Gia Viet will plant cashews and other short-term crops such as peanuts, black beans, green beans, and soybeans on an area of 2,000 hectares in Cuba's Artemisa province. The Vietnamese company will provide raw materials, agricultural machinery, techniques, knowledge, and technology transfer, while the Cuban side will provide land, labor, and create favorable conditions for project implementation.
Speaking to VNA reporters, Mr. Nguyen Khac Hoang, Director of Hoang Gia Viet Company, said that Cuba's land is very suitable for many types of crops similar to those in Vietnam, especially industrial crops, in which the company has chosen cashew as the main crop. He emphasized: "The cooperative relationship between the two countries is strong, has a traditional history and also has political and social similarities. That is why we feel completely secure when putting our trust in investing in the beautiful country of Cuba."

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Telcel Abdel González assessed the project as having important significance, contributing to promoting food production for the Cuban people. This is a step forward to bring cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam in the agricultural sector to a new level commensurate with the political relations between the two countries.
For his part, Ambassador Le Quang Long assessed: “Recently, the cooperation in the agricultural sector between Vietnam and Cuba has developed very positively. Today, we are very pleased to witness another cooperation in the agricultural sector between Hoang Gia Viet Company and Artemisa Province Company. I think that in the future, there will continue to be many Vietnamese enterprises coming to Cuba and cooperating in the agricultural sector, opening up very good prospects and bringing benefits to both sides.”

Vietnam is currently the largest Asian investor in Cuba, with at least 7 projects in operation, with a total committed capital of more than 160 million USD. Companies such as Thai Binh , Viglacera and Agri VMA have invested in areas such as construction materials, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, solar energy, etc. Particularly in agriculture, Vietnam's cooperation projects to support Cuba in developing rice, corn, soybean and aquaculture production have achieved positive results.
