Thanh Lan Island, covering 27 km², is the largest island in the Co To archipelago, belonging to the Co To Special Zone, Quang Ninh province. The island holds a particularly important strategic position in the Gulf of Tonkin.

To get to the island, locals and tourists can take a boat or speedboat from ports in the Van Don Special Economic Zone, which takes about an hour, or 15 minutes if traveling from the main Co To island.

Upon arriving at the island, tourists will be immersed in the pristine and romantic beauty of this island located at the northeasternmost tip of Vietnam.

Throughout the day, tourists can enjoy breathtaking sunrise and sunset moments.

Thanh Lan Island is considered a precious gem of the Co To Special Economic Zone and Quang Ninh province, with the potential to develop many types of experiential tourism.

Unlike other crowded tourist destinations, Thanh Lan is like a world of its own – a place where people live in harmony with nature, quiet yet captivating. The beaches remain unspoiled by concrete, the waves are gentle, and the natural scenery is still pristine as it was in the early days of its development.

Thanh Lan Island doesn't awaken to the hustle and bustle of mass tourism, but rather by preserving its pristine natural beauty, bringing people closer to nature. Beautiful scenery and responsible tourism are the driving forces behind preserving and promoting the island's tranquility.

Currently, over 70% of the island's area is covered by natural forests, creating a rich and diverse forest-sea ecosystem. Beaches such as Ba Chau, Hai Quan, C67, etc., still retain almost their pristine beauty.

The islanders mainly make a living from fishing. Recently, as tourists have become aware of the island, the people of Thanh Lan have started developing tourism with activities such as watching the sunrise and sunset, snorkeling to see coral reefs, and exploring the island's pristine beauty.

Upon arriving at the island, both locals and tourists are captivated by its beauty.

Determined to awaken the sleeping gem, the Co To Special Economic Zone in Quang Ninh province recently approved a project to build a 2-kilometer-long sea bridge across the strait between Thanh Lan and Co To islands, with implementation expected from 2027-2029.

Once operational, this project will help connect the transportation needs of residents and tourists from the Co To Special Economic Zone center to Thanh Lan Island, creating favorable conditions for tourism development on the island.
