Recently, a series of photos and videos recording traffic jams in the Tham Ma slope area (also known as 9 Khoanh pass), Tuyen Quang province (formerly Ha Giang province) were posted on social networks and attracted a lot of attention.
Accordingly, the traffic jam lasted several hundred meters, vehicles almost stopped for hours.
Many netizens humorously compared the traffic jam on this famous slope to that of Hanoi at rush hour when a series of vehicles are "stuck" and can only move little by little.

Mr. Huy Manh - the person who posted the above series of photos said that the traffic jam at Tham Ma slope was recorded at 4:00 p.m. on November 14. According to him, the locality is preparing to enter the buckwheat flower festival season, so it attracts a large number of tourists .
The festival was originally scheduled to open on November 15, but was later moved to November 29. Many visitors who had booked early still planned to travel here.
“The weather these days is quite nice, and it's also buckwheat flower blooming season so there are a lot of visitors coming to see the scenery.
Tham Ma Slope is also one of the beautiful check-in locations with this flower, attracting a large number of visitors, leading to congestion," Huy Manh said.

“In recent days, local travel agencies have almost run out of motorbikes to rent. Tours for foreign tourists also have no drivers available.
Even many accommodations in Dong Van, Lo Lo Chai village or at the foot of Lung Cu flagpole are fully booked,” Huy Manh added.
A representative of a travel agency also revealed that on the morning of November 14 alone, the agency welcomed more than 300 domestic and foreign tourists and rented out more than 200 motorbikes.
Nguyen Vinh Duong, a young man working in tourism in Tuyen Quang (formerly Ha Giang), said he also encountered a long traffic jam at Tham Ma slope in the early afternoon of November 14 when traveling from Yen Minh to Lung Cu.
“We arrived at Tham Ma slope at 2:15 p.m., right when the traffic jam started. After nearly half an hour of standing still because of the traffic jam, our group was able to get out of the jam,” Duong said.
According to the young man, since the morning of the same day, many roads have started to get congested due to the sudden increase in the number of passengers. In addition, some local roads are under construction, making travel difficult.
Not to mention, due to the large number of people pouring onto the slope at the same time, the parking lot in the scenic area was overloaded, not enough space so vehicles had to park along both sides of the highway.
This slows down traffic, making it difficult for large vehicles such as trucks and buses to turn around corners, leading to local congestion.

Duong said that November is the best time to see buckwheat flowers because the weather is cool, not too cold and quite dry, and it is expected that a large number of visitors will come here.
Visitors planning to come here should proactively book rooms early, and if they want to avoid overcrowding, they should go on weekdays, except during peak hours.
Duong also shared that buckwheat flowers are no longer as difficult to "hunt" as before, because they have been propagated and grown in many places, even when out of season, some places still have flowers.
“Ha Giang (old) not only has beautiful buckwheat flower season but also many other flower seasons. Tourists can book a trip here after the New Year or Lunar New Year to see peach blossoms, plum blossoms, pear blossoms…”, he suggested.
"However, in the main season, the flowers will be more colorful and the trees will be taller and more beautiful," he added.
