A spectacular turnaround in basketball to unexpectedly claim the "queen" title.
Ton Duc Thang University, located in Ho Chi Minh City, has long been known as an institution that excels not only in academics but also in physical education and sports development within the school. Being the only university in the South with both men's and women's basketball teams participating in the National Student Basketball Championship Finals (not to mention the men's soccer team which will also be competing in the Finals in a few days) speaks volumes about the strength and depth of the team from Ho Chi Minh City. Notably, the women's team won the National Student Championship three years ago (2022).

When the Ton Duc Thang University women's team traveled to Hanoi to participate in the TV 360 Cup National Basketball Championship Finals against five other prominent teams, their start was not very smooth. They stumbled early in the first game against Da Nang University with a score of 41-48. Although they were not inferior to the Central Coastal team, the shots of Coach Tu Van Tai's players were not accurate enough. That loss also revealed a few things, as Professor Le Tan Phat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science and Team Leader, said: a lack of concentration at times combined with bad luck in shooting caused the team to falter.

That setback didn't deter the team. Proof of this was their impressive performance in the very next match, where Ton Duc Thang University defeated Hanoi Pedagogical University with a decisive 41-27 victory to secure second place in Group C and advance to the semi-finals. The more they played, the more mature and confident Coach Tu Van Tai's players became. Besides continuing to build up their physical fitness, the team seriously assessed each opponent and developed appropriate strategies. Most importantly, they constantly encouraged and motivated each other on the court, fostering a strong team spirit. As a result, in the semi-final, Ton Duc Thang University played exceptionally well and created drama until the very last minute, winning against Hanoi National University 45-44 – a score not for the faint of heart.

With their spirits high heading into the final against the University of Da Nang girls' team, the team from Ho Chi Minh City showed no hesitation or feeling overwhelmed like in their group stage match. They launched early attacks, took the initiative in their play, and exchanged blows.
After a somewhat back-and-forth first half, the third quarter began with an explosion of play from the Ton Duc Thang University girls. Minh Minh's three-point shot early in the quarter, along with a series of points from well-executed plays, helped Coach Tu Van Tai's team at one point lead their opponents by as much as 10 points.
The Da Nang University team made efforts to narrow the gap to 1 in the final seconds of the match. However, Ton Duc Thang University defended well, successfully blocking the final attacks of the Central Vietnam representatives to secure a breathtaking victory with a score of 41-40.

This victory not only brought home the national student championship trophy for the second time in three years, but also affirmed the strength of the student spirit of Ton Duc Thang University: perseverance, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the athletes, coaching staff, and the strong support from the student community of Ton Duc Thang University - which has trained many notable names who have become legends in this competition such as Linh Vo, Thanh Dua, Minh Minh, and Thu Bui. Thu Bui, also known as Bui Minh Thu, won the Best Female Athlete award along with Le Trung Khoa of the Da Nang University men's team.
The Central Coastal region's representatives lost in the women's basketball tournament but won the men's basketball championship after defeating the University of Transport and Communications in the final.
