Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son acknowledged the dedication of teachers, especially those who have overcome difficulties, stuck to their schools and classes, and volunteered to work in mountainous areas, remote areas, especially difficult areas, border areas, and islands.

The Minister said: “Teachers have devoted all their efforts and intelligence to the cause of ‘cultivating people’. That is both determination and support for teachers to follow the profession and fulfill their mission well.

The Ministry of Education and Training identifies that the teaching staff is an important factor, a sustainable foundation, deciding all successes of education and training. Therefore, the Ministry's leaders will try to do everything and take every measure to improve the position and develop the teaching staff in both quantity and quality."

However, the head of the education sector believes that innovation is both an opportunity and a challenge for teachers. To the extent that teachers achieve innovation, innovation in the education sector will also achieve that extent.

According to the Minister, if teachers only overcome difficulties but do not overcome themselves, it will still only be an education system that overcomes difficulties.

“The horizons of human development do not stop at overcoming difficulties. Therefore, there is still much work ahead of us, although overcoming difficulties is extremely valuable.

Teachers need to do their jobs well so that they have the spirit and awareness to preserve the dignity of the profession. This is a prerequisite to affirm the sustainable value of the profession,” the Minister shared.

After more than 10 years working in remote areas, Ms. Hoang Thi Van, a teacher at Nam Dan Kindergarten (Xin Man District, Ha Giang Province), still remembers clearly the first days of "sticking to class", when the roads were difficult to travel, and most of the parents were from the Nung and Mong ethnic groups and did not care about their children's education. At that time, Ms. Van herself felt "very discouraged".

"Both the teacher and the students have different languages. The teacher doesn't understand what the students say, and the students don't understand what the teacher says. To connect with the students, the teacher has to ask the older students who can speak Mandarin to teach her their ethnic language. Thanks to that, during the teaching process, the young teacher can use two languages to communicate with the students," Ms. Van confided.

But after 1 year of working, when she got used to the lifestyle of the Xin Man people, Ms. Van loved her job more and more and wanted to stick with it, no longer intending to quit.

Ms. Van said: “The place where I work is a difficult area, students do not care much about November 20. On this occasion, teachers themselves just hope that their students go to school regularly, which is very happy. During the rainy season, if students do not cross the stream, they will not go to school.”

As the only male teacher teaching preschool in Muong Lat district, Mr. Ha Van Thao, a teacher at Pu Nhi Kindergarten (Thanh Hoa) said that when he first started his career, he had to overcome psychological difficulties and try to keep up with the school's efforts.

Due to difficult economic conditions, many parents are still not aware of the importance of studying. Therefore, teachers must be the ones to encourage parents and inspire their children's passion for learning.

In addition, Mr. Thao, like many other preschool teachers, shares the same concern about the policy for teachers in mountainous areas. He hopes that in the future, teachers can make a living from their profession, thereby gaining more confidence to work with peace of mind.
