The national training camp for the Malaysian U22 team has entered its 7th day but they cannot gather their best players due to the ongoing domestic tournament. Not stopping there, the Southeast Asian Champions League also plays in the middle of the week, forcing clubs to keep their players.
This is the case of Selangor. On December 3, Selangor will play Cebu. Meanwhile, on the 6th, U22 Malaysia will play against Laos. The time is so short that Selangor decided to keep their players instead of giving in to the team.
Faced with this situation, coach Nafuzi Zain had to call for help. He lacked support from domestic teams for the opening match of the 33rd SEA Games, especially from Selangor, Sabah, Penang and Terengganu.

“So far, we have not received permission from Sabah, Penang and Terengganu teams (for the first match) while Selangor is still considering based on the current situation.
Previously, two players, Aliff Izwan and Muhammad Abu Khalil, were still in Selangor and two more players were not present. They were with the team to participate in the Shopee Cup in Cebu,” the U22 Malaysia coach said.
"So four Selangor players and a total of seven other players were not with us. We will watch the Shopee Cup match before the first match (against Laos), see how many players Selangor has allowed to come directly to Bangkok with us. Hopefully everyone can join."
Malaysia U22 will open the 33rd SEA Games against Laos on the 6th before facing Vietnam U22 5 days later, all matches will be held in Bangkok. If there is no progress, it is likely that this team will have only more than half of the squad to prepare for the match against Laos U22.
