Vietnam team successfully "paid back debt" against the Philippines

On the afternoon of July 20 (local time) in Jakarta (Indonesia), the Vietnamese team entered the final match of the second leg of SEA V.League 2025 against the Philippines, the team that coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team lost 0-3 to in the first leg.

The Vietnamese team is determined to win to "pay back" the loss in stage 1, and at the same time secure a place in the top 3 because there is no longer a chance to win the championship.

Starting set 1 better, the Vietnamese team rose and at one point led the opponent by 5 points.

However, at the end of the set, the Philippines' spirit rose, they gradually narrowed and held on to 23-24 but the Vietnamese boys were still better at holding on to bring home the decisive point.

Entering set 2, the two teams struggled for each point, but the Philippines' defense in the second half of the set established itself well to gain an advantage, leading to a 25-21 victory.

The Vietnamese team won the runner-up position for the second time in a stage of the tournament.

The tug-of-war situation repeated itself in the first half of set 3, then the Vietnamese boys exploded with strength and rose strongly with the excellence of Ngoc Thuan to end the set with a score of 25-17.

With high spirits after the victory in set 3, Ngoc Thuan and his teammates played effectively in both attack and defense to destroy their opponents, bringing home a 25-16 victory.

Defeating the Philippines 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 25-16), the Vietnamese team got their third victory in stage 2.

In the decisive match for the championship between Indonesia and Thailand later, the home players won with a score of 3-2.

With this result, the Indonesian team won the second stage championship with 10 points after 4 wins.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team won the runner-up position with 3 wins and 1 loss, reaching 8 points, ranked 3rd is Thailand with 7 points.

This is the second time the Vietnamese team has won a silver medal at the SEA V.League, having previously done the same in the second leg of 2023.
