The doubles match brought a dramatic victory for the Vietnamese team against Sri Lanka

The Vietnamese tennis team consists of 5 players: Vu Ha Minh Duc, Nguyen Van Phuong, Pham La Hoang Anh, Dinh Viet Tuan Minh and Nguyen Minh Phat, under the guidance of head coach Nguyen Phi Anh Vu.

The tournament has 9 teams divided into 2 groups: Group A has Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam (host), Singapore; Group B has Indonesia, Syria, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia.

In the group stage, the Vietnamese team did not play well, finishing last with a record of all losses.

Therefore, the Vietnamese men's tennis team must compete in a play-off match with the fourth-placed team in the remaining group to maintain their place in group 3, the Sri Lankan team, taking place on July 20.

Tennis player Pham La Hoang Anh had a smooth start when he defeated Ashen Silva 2-0 (6-3, 7-5), helping Vietnam take a 1-0 lead. However, Vu Ha Minh Duc lost to Harshana Godamanna 0-2 (3-6, 2-6), forcing the match to be decided by the men's doubles match.

In the key match, the pair Dinh Viet Tuan Minh/ Nguyen Van Phuong played with confidence, overcoming Nilaweera/ Godamanna after 3 dramatic sets (6-2, 6-7, 6-2), bringing a 2-1 victory to the home team.

With this result, the Vietnamese tennis team closed the campaign with an important victory at home and continued to participate in Group 3 of the Davis Cup next season.
