Major Le Minh Thao, Political Commissar of Vung Ro Port Border Guard Station, said: In recent years, the unit has regularly coordinated with mass organizations and local authorities to organize many practical activities such as: environmental protection propaganda, sea cleaning, planting trees to block sand, collecting coastal waste... thereby gradually raising awareness and responsibility of cadres, soldiers, union members, youth and people in preserving the marine environment.
In particular, the unit has been implementing the model of “Bringing waste to shore”, encouraging fishermen and coastal residents to collect waste generated during fishing and living at sea and bring it to shore for centralized treatment. This model contributes to improving the marine ecological environment, protecting water resources, preventing climate change, stabilizing livelihoods and improving the long-term quality of life for coastal communities.
This "Let's clean the sea" activity is also part of a series of volunteer programs for a green environment, contributing to building the image of Border Guard soldiers close to the people, joining hands with the community to build increasingly green, clean and beautiful border and coastal areas.
