Looking forward to the National Press Awards Ceremony on HIV/AIDS prevention and control taking place on December 10

The program was broadcast live on VTV9 channel and digital platforms of Health & Life Newspaper, bringing the opportunity for a large number of people across the country to watch and join in the meaningful celebration.

Immediately after its launch, the National Press Award on HIV/AIDS prevention and control received strong responses from reporters, journalists, collaborators and many groups of authors across media agencies. The submitted works not only clearly reflect the changes in HIV/AIDS prevention and control work, but also depict the steadfast journey of the silent people on the front line.

They are a team of doctors, health workers, peer collaborators, and people living with HIV who have overcome prejudice to become a support for the community. Each work is like a slice of real life, a vivid demonstration of the relentless effort towards the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030.

This year's award ceremony is solemnly designed with the following contents:

Opening performance;
Statement of reasons, introduction of delegates;
Opening speech of the Ministry of Health leaders
And the awards for outstanding works.

Not only is it a recognition of professional achievements, the award ceremony is also an opportunity to look back at the efforts of the media network accompanying the health sector in the work of preventing and fighting HIV/AIDS. There, the press continues to affirm its important role in spreading correct knowledge, reducing stigma and encouraging people at risk to access preventive services such as PrEP, PEP or regular testing.

In addition to numbers or professional models, this year’s finalists also left an impression with their humanistic depth. These are reports about the journey of fighting and rebuilding the lives of people infected with HIV; stories about doctors in remote areas who persistently provide ARV treatment for patients; or about self-reliant community groups, where each encounter can save another life. It is this kindness, perseverance and compassion that creates the “bright spot” for each work, contributing to the value of this year’s journalism award.

The award ceremony was also a moment to pay tribute to the writers who devoted their hearts to the difficult topic of HIV/AIDS, which requires empathy and high accuracy. Many journalists have traveled long distances to reach patients, residential areas, treatment facilities, or high-risk areas to record the most authentic stories. It is this dedication and responsibility that makes each work not only information, but also a voice carrying faith, hope and sharing.

In the context of Vietnam's efforts towards the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic, the role of the press is expected to become increasingly stronger. This year's award ceremony is therefore not only a night of honor but also a message: The fight against HIV/AIDS still requires the cooperation of the whole society, in which the media plays a bridging role, helping to bring medical services closer to the community, helping to remove barriers and prejudices - factors that have made many people afraid to access treatment.
