The flight was operated by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, departing from Bao An International Airport (Shenzhen City) at 18:10 and landing in Van Don at 20:00, carrying 147 passengers from China to travel to Quang Ninh. The group will stay in Quang Ninh for 5 days, visit famous tourist attractions in Quang Ninh and return to Shenzhen on the next charter flight at Van Don International Airport.
Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and representatives of departments, branches and Van Don special zone presented flowers to welcome the delegation and wished them memorable experiences in Quang Ninh.

It is known that immediately after that, the flight from Van Don International Airport to Shenzhen will also depart at 9:10 p.m. and land at Bao An International Airport at 0:00 a.m. (Vietnam time), bringing 162 Chinese tourists back after a trip to Quang Ninh , entering by road before.

With a flight time of only about 2 hours, the Shenzhen - Van Don route shortens the journey between the two dynamic economic and tourism centers of the region, opening up opportunities for cooperation, investment, and enhancing the experience for international tourists when coming to the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay.
It is known that in 2019, Van Don International Airport also operated many flights to Shenzhen with a frequency of 2 flights/week. Then, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, this route had to stop operating. The restoration of the flight route with Shenzhen - the most developed city in the South China region also demonstrates the efforts of Quang Ninh province and businesses in diversifying the international tourist market. This is also a strategic step in developing international tourism in Quang Ninh. Shenzhen is a potential market with rich spending power, representing the middle and high-end tourist segment that Quang Ninh is aiming for. The reopening of the Van Don - Shenzhen route not only connects traditional international visitors, but also realizes the strategy of expanding the international flight network of Van Don airport in the coming period.

The opening of the Shenzhen - Van Don charter flight route takes place at a time when Quang Ninh is launching a tourism stimulus campaign at the end of 2025 with the theme "Quang Ninh - Experience heritage, connect the world." The campaign aims to welcome over 20 million visitors, including 4.5 million international visitors, through a series of large-scale cultural, sports, culinary and incentive events.
It is expected that in January and February 2026, Van Don International Airport will welcome international charter flights from Cheongju (Korea) with 9 round trips. Currently, the airport is being operated by Vietnam Airlines on the Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don route with a frequency of 3 flights/week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, contributing to increasing the connectivity between the Southern region and the heritage site.
Recently, on October 30, within the framework of the official visit to the UK by a high-ranking delegation of Vietnamese leaders, Quang Ninh province, Sun Group, Hong Kong Aviation Engineering Company Limited (HAECO) and VinaCapital Holdings signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to study the construction of an aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) complex at Van Don International Airport, as well as promote technology transfer and training of high-quality human resources, aiming to form the most modern green aviation model in the North.
