According to historical records, in 248, Trieu Thi Trinh (aka Ba Trieu) and her brother Trieu Quoc Dat, a powerful district magistrate in the region, gathered righteous men, chose Nua mountain as a base to practice martial arts, raise an army, and drive out the invading Eastern Wu army. The uprising later failed, and the female general committed suicide at Tung mountain (Trieu Loc commune, Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa province today).

Although Lady Trieu's uprising against the invading Eastern Wu army failed, it created a bright milestone in history, demonstrating our nation's indomitable spirit against foreign invaders, a shining symbol of patriotism, indomitable will, and indomitable spirit with the immortal saying: "I want to ride the strong wind, step on the fierce waves, kill the whales in the East Sea, drive out the Wu invaders to regain the country, free myself from slavery, and not bow down to be someone else's concubine" which is still passed down for many generations.
To commemorate the merits of Lady Trieu, the people of Trieu Loc commune, Hau Loc district built a temple and her tomb on the top of Tung mountain, built a temple to worship Lady Trieu on Gai mountain, and built a large communal house in the middle of Phu Dien village. During the Ly, Tran, Le, and Nguyen dynasties, temples were renovated, royal decrees were issued, and ceremonies were held with national rituals.
