| Ninth-grade students from Au Co Secondary School (Nha Trang ward) participate in a mock exam held at the school. |
This school year, Ly Tu Trong Secondary School (Phan Rang ward) has 325 9th-grade students registered to take the 10th-grade entrance exam. Ms. Tran Thi Bach Yen, the school's Deputy Principal, said that unlike last year, the structure of the 2026-2027 Math exam includes 70% multiple-choice questions and 30% essay questions. Therefore, starting from the first semester, the school has given students tests based on the new exam structure to familiarize themselves with it. Currently, 9th-grade students have basically completed the curriculum, so the school is accelerating review sessions for them during regular class time. The school has instructed teachers to have students solve the sample exam issued by the Department of Education and Training; at the same time, based on the exam structure of the Department and referencing similar exams, they are implementing practice exercises for students.

Recently, several junior high schools organized centralized mock exams for students to help them familiarize themselves with the exam structure, practice exam-taking psychology, presentation skills, and time management. Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huyen, Deputy Principal of Au Co Junior High School (Nha Trang ward), said that after the mock exam results were available, teachers evaluated and analyzed the mistakes so that students could learn from them and prepare as best as possible for the official exam. Following the mock exam, the school continued to implement the teaching program according to the annual plan, while also integrating supplementary knowledge in the three exam subjects, guiding students on exam-taking skills, and answering their questions.
Aiming to pass the entrance exam for the specialized English class at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted in South Nha Trang, Pham Gia Huy, a 9th-grade student from Au Co Secondary School, shared: “I try to allocate my time wisely to review and practice my test-taking skills. Besides class time, I organize my home study schedule scientifically , without being too stressed, and actively solve practice exams, prioritizing English. Participating in practice exams helps me get used to the pressure of the exam room and the exam regulations, so I can better prepare mentally for the upcoming exam.”
Time needs to be allocated wisely.

The entrance exam for 10th grade in public high schools for the 2026-2027 school year will take place on May 28th and 29th, right after the end of the school year, about one week earlier than in previous years.
According to data from the Department of Education and Training (as of 5 PM on May 12th), the entire province has 26,484 students registered to apply for admission to 10th grade in public high schools for the 2026-2027 school year. Of these, 24,587 students registered their first choice directly at the school, and 1,897 students registered for specialized schools but wish to return to regular high schools if they are not admitted. Meanwhile, the total enrollment quota is 19,570 students. Thus, nearly 7,000 students will not be admitted to public schools. Nha Trang, Phan Rang, etc., are considered "hot spots" for enrollment with a relatively large number of applicants.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, stated that the department has issued numerous guidelines to communes, wards, and secondary schools under its jurisdiction regarding teaching and reviewing for 9th-grade students preparing for the 10th-grade entrance exam. These guidelines cover aspects such as the exam structure and the scope of knowledge for the three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and English. The exam will closely adhere to the required learning outcomes of the secondary school curriculum, primarily focusing on the 9th-grade curriculum, with appropriate differentiation. Currently, secondary schools have largely completed the teaching program for 9th-grade students. With limited time remaining until the exam, schools need to intensify their review efforts. In addition to consolidating knowledge, schools should guide students in developing a reasonable study plan, avoiding rote learning or focusing on only certain subjects, and effectively allocating time for the exam. During this crucial period, students need to maintain a stable mindset and take care of their health to best prepare for the upcoming exams.
