Taking us on a tour of the processing line, Mr. Nguyen Van Tai, Director of the Sugar Processing Factory, informed: From 2023 to now, the Company has invested nearly 87.5 billion VND, renovating equipment to increase processing capacity, ensuring the consumption of all raw sugarcane output for farmers and meeting environmental protection requirements, such as: Building a bagasse storage system, a mud storage house, conveyor belts, and a molasses storage tank system.

To ensure raw material areas for processing, the Company annually invests 120-150 billion VND in developing raw materials and supports farmers with 25-35 billion VND in non-refundable support. The annual raw sugarcane output fluctuates between 600,000 - 660,000 tons, bringing in revenue of 620-700 billion VND for sugarcane growers.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Hieu, General Director of Son La Sugarcane Joint Stock Company, said: To help people feel secure and stick with sugarcane, the Company supports raw material areas and sugarcane farmers to reduce difficulties. Support for road construction, seeds, land preparation, flood support, support for raw material areas and investment interest in raw material areas... From the 2022-2023 production season to now, the Company has supported people to overcome difficulties with a total cost of 8.3 billion VND.

In addition, the Company cooperates with the Sugarcane Research Institute and Trang Tho Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Nanning City, Guangxi Province, China, to test and select suitable and effective sugarcane varieties and provide training to improve the technical skills of the Company's agricultural staff. Cooperate closely with fertilizer and pesticide manufacturing companies to invest in providing farmers with high-quality products at reasonable prices. In the 2024-2025 production season, the Company maintains a raw material area of ​​9,268 hectares of sugarcane, with an expected output of about 600,000 tons.

To ensure the harmonious interests between enterprises and sugarcane growers, the Company has built a sustainable link between enterprises and farmers. To achieve this, the Company directs local management staff to closely coordinate with sugarcane growing villages' management boards, listen to farmers' opinions, and develop reasonable and fair harvesting and transportation plans. At the same time, it continuously expands the raw material areas of the areas; Muong La, Bac Yen.

The expansion of the Company’s raw material area has created jobs and income for tens of thousands of local households. Many sugarcane growing households have become well-off thanks to providing services for the Company, such as transporting and preparing land for sugarcane cultivation, with an average income of over 100 million VND/household/year. In addition, they also use sugarcane tops as animal feed.

Mr. Mua A Lu, Trong De village, Hua Nhan commune, Bac Yen district, shared: My family has more than 1 hectare of upland land, previously growing corn and cassava. After switching to growing sugarcane, the company instructed us on techniques for care, fertilization, seed investment, and supported us with 5 million VND/ha of land preparation with an excavator. We signed a contract to commit to purchasing sugarcane. This year, sugarcane grown on 1 hectare yielded 80 tons, after deducting expenses, the family earned 40 million VND.

The company also participates in social security activities such as supporting Tet for the community, poor households, and humanitarian funds with a total budget of nearly 1 billion VND. In 2024, the company will maintain an average salary of nearly 9 million VND/month for workers, along with paying an additional 4 billion VND for the 13th and 14th month salaries. The trade union fully performs its obligations according to the law, paying over 8.1 billion VND in social insurance for employees, and organizing rewards of over 900 million VND to encourage individuals and groups with outstanding achievements.

In recognition of its achievements, Son La Sugarcane Joint Stock Company has been awarded the Emulation Flag for leading enterprises for many consecutive years and a certificate of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. In the next step, the Company will invest in developing raw material areas, sign purchasing contracts, and support sugarcane farmers so that they can feel secure in production and increase their income, creating many jobs for workers, laborers and sugarcane growers.
