The life of the people of the Central Highlands is closely linked to the mountains and forests, so the people of the Central Highlands exist not as individuals but as community people. Since ancient times, the people here have united their communities through the bon, khuong, and hamlet. The love of humanity here, they are willing to share and help each other. And it is shown in meetings, through village festivals. From there, it has created a vivid portrait of the mountains and forests.

The land and the Ede people blend together to create a unique cultural identity, which has entered poetry, songs and photography. Beauty does not only stop at the outside but also includes the soul, behavior, and social communication. The hospitality or affection that the Central Highlands people show, though simple, is imbued with the rusticity and simplicity of the people of the mountainous region.

Author Tuan Anh Pham submitted his photos to the "Happy Vietnam 2025" Award with extremely vivid images of the people and landscapes of the Central Highlands. Vietnam.vn would like to introduce them to readers.

The Central Highlands, the land of legendary epics, the land of deep green forests, where roads wind through old forests, where rustic villages appear and disappear between the clouds, where gong culture imbued with national identity blends with the modern pace of life always has a strange fascination. The Ede elders are teaching the gong sounds to the next generation - the sound that connects tradition with the future.

Small home in the wilderness

It is the veined hands that have experienced many seasons of farming, the wife inside quietly spinning yarn, the simple wooden house in the deep green Dak Lak forest. That touching peaceful moment reflects a very real part of the life of the Central Highlands - where happiness is woven with love, labor and small but extremely warm things.

Smile of time

In Ede culture, the elderly are the source of knowledge, morality, and the soul of the community. They are not only witnesses of the village’s history, but also keepers of epics, songs, customs, and a way of living in harmony with the forest. His smile is not simply joy, but also contentment, understanding of life, and acceptance of time as an inevitable part. In the Ede longhouse, where generations live together, the elderly are ancient trees in the forest – quiet, strong, and providing shade for the young shoots.

Harmony of heaven and earth

In the brilliant afternoon light, the people of the Central Highlands quietly walked under the ancient tree – a symbol of life and tradition. Without words, each step harmonized with the drum beat, the mist and the endless green rice fields, evoking a sacred harmony between people and the land. That moment, though quiet, was full of life – where happiness was not just a smile, but the continuation of culture, faith and community.

In the middle of the vast wilderness, people and nature become one. A warm morning by the stream – where laughter echoes, where simple happiness appears through eyes, drops of water and peaceful rhythm of life.
