That is the Song family - a typical example in the movement to encourage learning, encourage talents, and build a "Learning Family" in the highlands of Lao Cai today.

The Song family has lived in Suoi Giang for four generations. Implementing the Party and State's policy on encouraging learning and talent, the Song family has united to build a "Learning Family".

Mr. Song A Nu - Head of the Song family shared: "To build a "Learning Family", the Song family has established a Learning Promotion Committee, built operating regulations to promote the responsibility of grandparents and parents in taking care of their children's education".

Every year, 100% of the families in the clan register for "Family Learning", the goal is: Everyone in the clan must voluntarily study through different forms, suitable to the needs, conditions and circumstances of each family, each person. For adults, they must actively participate in training and guidance classes on economic activities; participate in cultural and sports activities; well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; create all conditions for children of school age to go to school; not suffer from social evils, not violate the law... For children, they must actively participate in studying to achieve the best results...

Each family in the clan contributes 500,000 VND/year to the clan's Scholarship Fund to reward excellent and good students and support interest-free loans for children in difficult circumstances.

Building a "Learning Clan" and "Learning Family", households in the Song clan always comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws in all areas of social life and local regulations and conventions; actively participate in movements to build cultural life, build new rural areas, reduce poverty, fight against early marriage, family planning, encourage children not to drop out of school...

Through learning, 36 households in the clan have learned to apply science and technology to growing rice, Shan tea, cinnamon and providing services... to improve their lives. Up to now, most households in the clan have escaped poverty, and every family has purchased modern means of living.

"Despite the difficult conditions of the highlands, all the children in the family can go to school, and many of them achieve high academic results," said Mr. Song A Cha, a member of the Song family.

According to Mr. Song A Nu's statistics, in the family, 1 person has a high level of political theory, 2 people have a university degree, 6 people have a college degree, 4 people have an intermediate degree; in particular, 14 people in the family are party members.

Many people have been actively contributing to society, such as: Mr. Song A Nu - former Chairman of Suoi Giang Commune People's Committee; Song A Dua - Party Cell Secretary of Giang B Village; Song A Cha - Head of Giang B Village; Song Thi So - Cultural Officer of Cat Thinh Commune... In the young generation, many children such as: Song A Su, Song Thi Huong... after finishing high school continue to strive to study at university.

With the results in studying and improving people's knowledge, in 2021, the Song family was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Association for Promotion of Education; in 2025, it received a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province; and many times received Certificates of Merit from Associations for Promotion of Education at all levels.

On the top of Suoi Giang, knowledge through the "Learning Family" model of the Song family is "planted" like ancient tea trees - durable, green and spreading.
