Driving force for economic development in Minh Son

The route is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2026.

Over 400 billion VND to upgrade DT.176B

DT.176B is one of the main routes connecting Bac Me and Yen Minh districts of Ha Giang province in the past. This is also one of the favorite routes for tourists when coming to Dong Van Stone Plateau. Therefore, the upgrading implementation is identified by the Provincial Party Committee as one of the key projects to make a breakthrough in building the province's traffic infrastructure.

On March 11, 2022, the Project to upgrade and renovate DT.176B phase 1 was approved for investment with a total approved budget of over 409 billion VND, with the Department of Construction as the investor. The total length of the upgraded route is about 20km, starting at km7+200, Minh Son commune; the end point is at km27+500 in Du Gia commune. The project has the standard of a grade IV mountainous road, aiming to gradually complete the planning of the road traffic network in the province, creating momentum for socio -economic development in the southern communes of Yen Minh district and the eastern part of the old Bac Me district, contributing to improving the lives and reducing poverty for people in the project area.

The project requires land acquisition from over 100 households. Currently, the project has been allocated over 300 billion VND, basically completing compensation and site clearance; construction progress has reached about 70% of the contract value, of which over 10km has been paved with asphalt concrete. The project is expected to be completed and handed over for operation in 2026.

Development motivation

Minh Son is a particularly difficult commune, with 17 villages, nearly 1,300 households with over 7,200 people; the natural area is nearly 150 km2. According to the review results at the end of 2024, the commune's poverty rate is up to 40.84%, near-poor households account for 19.2%. DT.176B runs through 6 villages in the commune, with over 500 households, over 4,000 people, accounting for nearly 60% of the commune's population. Therefore, DT.176B has been invested in and upgraded, receiving special attention and expectations from the commune.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Trieu Van Khang commune said: The route on DT.176B route has been announced as Tourist Route No. 4 in the Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark. Because the road was previously small, narrow and degraded, tourists were hesitant to "backpack" through this route. Now the road has been invested in and upgraded, so we hope that the upgrade project will be completed soon and will attract tourists to visit some of the landscapes in the area.

Keem B is the village that has the DT.176B route running through it, and is also the farthest from the commune center. According to the Head of Keem B village, Thao Mi Cha: The DT.176B route running through the village has many places where tourists like to stop and admire the majestic natural scenery because this place belongs to the buffer zone of Du Gia National Park - Dong Van Stone Plateau. When the road through the village was basically completed, some households moved their houses to the roadside, creating a space for tourists to stop and admire the scenery and sell essential items. The road is more convenient, the number of visitors passing through this route has begun to increase significantly. This is a good sign for the people because they can open more service points for tourists to stop and admire the scenery, experience the nature, culture and people in the commune.

DT.176B Road is not only a tourist route but also a vital route for transporting goods from Ha Giang city to Minh Son, Du Gia and Duong Thuong communes. This area is a growing area for peanuts, soybeans and livestock and poultry. Therefore, when the DT.176B Upgrade Project is completed, it will not only create favorable conditions for service and tourism development, but also promote trade and exchange of agricultural products for Minh Son and neighboring localities.
