Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Health Vo Thi Ngoc Lam said: The sex ratio at birth in the province reached 108 boys/100 girls, completing the set plan. This is the result of maintaining drastic activities to control gender imbalance at birth, promoting gender equality communication, organizing training in schools and residential areas and promoting effective models to support women and girls.
Other targets met and exceeded the set plan, such as: the rate of prenatal screening reached 78%, exceeding the set plan; the rate of counseling, premarital health check-ups and periodic health check-ups for the elderly all met the target. The total number of people using modern contraceptive methods reached more than 370 thousand people, exceeding the plan by 118%.
In 2025, population communication activities were widely deployed with more than 800 conferences at the grassroots level. In addition, many articles posted on newspapers, social networks and commune and ward radio systems received the attention of many people. Programs for elderly health care, improving population quality, prenatal and newborn screening continued to be maintained, helping to detect early hundreds of cases of abnormal risks.
In addition to the achieved results, population work in Dong Nai is also facing many challenges. In 2025, the whole province recorded more than 43,100 children born, a decrease of more than 5,600 children compared to 2024, showing that the fertility rate continues to be low. Meanwhile, the population is aging rapidly, the number of elderly people is large. Therefore, there is a need for more feasible policies to encourage births to ensure the quality of the population in the future.
