On October 26, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai province held the OCOP product announcement ceremony for the first phase of 2025. Accordingly, in the past 10 months, Dong Nai province has evaluated 119 OCOP products with 3 stars or more from 79 entities. Of which, 19 products were re-evaluated and 8 OCOP products achieved 5 stars. Up to now, the whole province has 490 OCOP products with 3 stars or more from 323 entities. In particular, there are 6 more potential national 5-star OCOP products.

Thus, compared to the beginning of 2020, the number of OCOP products increased sharply, an average of about 50%/year. OCOP products are diverse in product lines with food products accounting for the largest proportion of more than 87%; handicrafts accounting for more than 5%; beverages accounting for more than 4%; medicinal herbs accounting for more than 2%... In which, many OCOP products are processed agricultural products such as: jackfruit, pineapple, taro, banana products, instant coffee, traditional coffee... The whole province also has 3 OCOP products: community tourism services, eco-tourism and tourist attractions.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang suggested that in the coming time, the Departments, branches, sectors as well as localities continue to support OCOP entities; especially supporting entities with potential 5-star OCOP products to continue to overcome limitations, complete dossiers for national OCOP recognition. OCOP entities actively improve their management level, business capacity, proactively grasp the market; effectively use State support resources. On the other hand, promote technology application, promote deep processing, link and associate with local raw material areas to form complete value chains, creating unique OCOP products of high value.

Large development space, focusing investment resources

After merging with Binh Phuoc to form the new Dong Nai province, the room for OCOP development in the coming time is very large. The whole province has more than 1 million hectares of agricultural land, accounting for nearly 79% of the province's natural area, a diverse ecosystem, favorable natural conditions, fertile land, abundant water resources, a large irrigation system, and is less affected by natural disasters. This is a great potential for the province to continue developing OCOP products in culture, tourism, and typical agricultural products of each locality.

Dong Nai is also the "capital" of livestock farming in the country, the livestock industry has gradually transformed from small-scale farming to industrial farming with large-scale commodities. Recently, many OCOP products in the livestock sector have been recognized by the market, contributing to creating added value for livestock products such as: OCOP pork, OCOP herbal chicken, OCOP products of pasteurized and sterilized quail eggs exported to many countries.

Not to mention, Dong Nai is also the center of the Southeast region for fruit trees and industrial crops with many crops with the largest area and output in the country, from which there have been many OCOP products processed from agricultural products such as: jackfruit, pineapple, taro, banana, instant coffee, traditional coffee...

According to the People's Committee of Xuan Hoa Commune, Dong Nai Province, in the coming time, the locality will determine to develop the OCOP program in a professional and sustainable direction, especially for the 5-star OCOP products that have just been recognized. The commune will focus on supporting production entities to improve product quality, build product stories associated with local culture. In particular, focus on applying technology in promoting and consuming products, through digital platforms and e-commerce platforms.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province Nguyen Van Thang said that over nearly 7 years (2019 - 2025), the OCOP Program has been strongly and deeply implemented, becoming a highlight in rural economic development. In particular, the province is interested in promoting trade promotion activities, promoting OCOP products, helping to affirm the brand and expand the consumption market. Agricultural, community and craft village tourism models continue to develop, harmoniously combining culture, landscape and OCOP products. Many smart production models, digitalizing processes, traceability and e-commerce have been deployed. The province has built an online agricultural product trading floor, contributing to improving production efficiency. Dong Nai is also very interested in implementing policies and support mechanisms, focusing investment resources on infrastructure, applying high technology to develop modern, sustainable agriculture in an ecological direction.

From now to 2030, the province aims to develop and increase the rate of 4-5 star OCOP products to 40%; over 75% of products have stable raw material areas and are linked in value chains; 100% of OCOP products are electronically traceable; the rate of OCOP entities participating in supermarket channels, convenience stores, and e-commerce accounts for over 70%; each locality has at least 1 center/point to introduce and sell OCOP products, associated with local tourism.
