Promoting the value chain
As an industrial province, Dong Nai has the advantage of attracting a large number of enterprises to invest in agriculture , especially in the field of processing and consumption of agricultural products. In particular, many enterprises are OCOP entities, not only investing in production but also interested in market development and building brands for products. The effectively implemented OCOP program has created a good foundation to attract investors in the processing sector. Up to now, many OCOP products have affirmed their brands through quality, promoting the value chain. New models, good, creative and effective practices are constantly being replicated.
The whole province has 496 OCOP products, especially among the 11 products achieving 5-star OCOP national level of Dong Nai , there are 7 products processed from cashew nuts including: 4 products of Nga Bien Import-Export Company Limited (Xuan Hoa commune) and 3 products of Ha My Joint Stock Company (Dong Phu commune).
With more than 176,000 hectares, Dong Nai province has the largest cashew growing area in the country. Currently, Vietnam is exporting 3-4 million tons of cashew nuts with a total export value of more than 4 billion USD. Of which, Dong Nai's cashew nut exports account for about 50% of the country's output and value. There are currently more than 1,400 cashew processing enterprises in the province. According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dat, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Cashew Association, the province's cashew products are quite diverse, ensuring export criteria. Many cashew products are granted geographical indications and have created a brand in the international market. After the merger, Dong Nai has the opportunity to elevate the "capital" of Vietnam's cashew nuts to new heights in both output and quality, especially increasing the proportion of cashew nuts exported.
Phuc Hung Long Premium health protection food of Tam Tam An Pharmaceutical Company Limited has just been recognized as a 5-star OCOP product in July 2025. Mr. Nguyen Van Khon, Director of Tam Tam An Pharmaceutical Company Limited, said that both products that have just been recognized as 5-star OCOP of the company are extracted and processed from the precious medicinal plant Xao Tam Phan with local raw materials. These products are prepared and manufactured in the direction of deep processing to meet the criteria for health protection products. Currently, the company has developed products to many provinces and cities across the country. In addition, the products have been exported to a number of markets such as Shanghai (China), Czech Republic...
Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited (Dinh Quan) is a pioneer enterprise in Dong Nai to implement the Large Cocoa Field Project linking production with consumption. From the initial few dozen hectares when implemented, the project has now developed more than 700 hectares of cocoa in Dong Nai and some neighboring provinces and cities. Mr. Dang Tuong Khanh, Director of Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited, said that the enterprise has invested millions of USD in processing factories and raw material areas. In addition to exporting raw cocoa beans, the company currently has nearly 30 deeply processed products such as chocolate, cocoa wine, cocoa powder... which are consumed well in the domestic market and many typical products have been voted by consumers as high-quality Vietnamese goods. Many of the enterprise's products have achieved 4-star OCOP; not only consumed well domestically, but also exported to demanding markets such as Japan, Korea...
Building sustainable raw material areas
According to the 5-star OCOP entities recently recognized in Dong Nai in 2025, to upgrade OCOP-standard products, businesses have focused on building sustainable raw material areas and investing in processing technology, thereby expanding the domestic and export markets.
Director of Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited Dang Tuong Khanh informed that the enterprise proactively invests in applying and converting science and technology in production. At the same time, connecting and developing local raw material areas to develop production. In particular, the enterprise focuses on building a sustainable production chain from selecting seedlings to supplying output products; ensuring transparent and clear product information factors, as well as developing unique values for pure cocoa powder and 3-in-1 cocoa powder products.
Similarly, Mr. Hieu Le, Deputy Director of Nga Bien Import Export Company Limited, said that the company's products have just been recognized as 5-star OCOP, which will create many motivations and premises to help the company develop its brand and strengthen consumers' trust in typical products and local specialties. The source of raw materials to produce these products is concentrated in Dong Nai. In addition to 4 5-star OCOP products, the company currently has 5 3-4 star OCOP products. In the coming time, the company will continue to make efforts to constantly improve product quality, maintain and upgrade OCOP products; as well as focus on applying technology in deep processing of products.
Departments, branches and localities in the province have been implementing many activities to focus on developing OCOP products associated with building strong local agricultural raw material areas; focusing on safe production, ensuring traceability and promoting the application of new and modern technologies in production and product supply.
