According to the reporter, from early morning, the construction site of the central axis road of Tran Bien ward ( Dong Nai ) was bustling with the sound of machines, vehicles and workers' footsteps. Groups of workers spread out to the construction sites of bridges, access roads, main roads, branch roads... creating a bustling, bustling picture.

Thong Nhat Bridge, an important part of the entire project, is gradually revealed.
Thong Nhat Bridge, an important part of the entire project, is gradually revealed.

At the Thong Nhat Bridge area, the workers coordinated smoothly: some tied the iron bars, some welded the railings, and others completed the final joints. Not far away, dump trucks were dumping materials, while rollers and excavators were working continuously to increase production. Along both sides of the route, workers were busy with the sub-projects, their hands never resting to ensure the overall progress of the construction site.

Looking at the whole scene, the large construction site is operating smoothly in a rush. This section is being measured, that section is grading stone, pouring concrete, another section is building formwork, digging and filling… All of this forms the non-stop movement of the “backbone” route that is gradually taking shape. When completed, people will have a new route connecting directly from Vo Thi Sau via An Hao bridge to the political and administrative center of Dong Nai province.

Currently, contractors are paving asphalt, completing sidewalks, median strips and planting trees along the route.

Taking a break, worker Nguyen Van Vinh shared that he has been working on the project for over a year and has witnessed every step of the project's changes. He and other groups of workers are currently working in three shifts to meet the project's progress. "The weather is unpredictable, but we are all trying to get it technically open before New Year's Day," he said.

According to the Dong Nai Province Construction Investment Project Management Board, the central axis road of Tran Bien ward has a total investment of more than 1,500 billion VND, including the road and Thong Nhat bridge. The project is more than 5.4km long, has two branches with the widest cross-section of up to 95m. This is a route connecting many central areas of the province, expanding urban space, reducing traffic congestion and activating service - commercial axes along Cai River.

Currently, the total construction volume has reached over 65%. Of which, branch 1 (from Vo Thi Sau Street extended to An Hao Bridge - Dang Van Tron Street intersection, more than 3.7km long) is paving the completed sections. Branch 2 (from Cu Lao Hiep Hoa roundabout to Buu Hoa Bridge, more than 1.7km long) has slower progress due to the newly handed over site, currently digging, filling, paving stones and constructing the drainage system.

Package No. 7, construction of the second branch drainage line, with a value of 29.8 billion VND, reaching 25.12%. The joint venture of Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC and Quan Trung mobilized more than 40 workers and 21 pieces of equipment. An engineer likened: "Building a roadbed is like cooking a big pot of rice, the fire, water, and doneness must be even; if you are just a little careless, you have to do it again."

Package 9, construction of drainage branch 1, has reached 66.43% of its value. Two contractors (CII - Bang Duong joint venture) mobilized 21 pieces of equipment and 50 workers to speed up the progress, and the stone grading work has reached 100%.

Package 11: Thong Nhat Bridge and roads at both ends of the bridge, output reached nearly 80%. Mekong - CII - Vinadelta - SHC joint venture mobilized 44 workers and 5 pieces of equipment, currently completing the bridge deck, retaining wall foundation, and technical trenches.

Mr. Tran Hoang Nam, Director of the Project Management Board (Mekong Construction Investment Joint Stock Company No. 1) said that the site has been 100% handed over, the unit mobilized more people and equipment to speed up the approach road and complete the bridge deck, striving to open the technical traffic by the end of this year. "Now everything is smooth, the team is determined to work overtime to make up for the progress," Mr. Nam shared.

Package 13 (Vam Ong An Bridge) has completed more than 66% of its output and is preparing to install girders, an important stage in construction. Package 15 (branch drainage line) constructed by Cuong Hung Company has currently achieved 12.12% of the crushed stone volume and 9% of the drainage culvert.

Mr. Nguyen Linh, Deputy Director of the Project Management Board, said that the unit is coordinating with the locality to speed up the handover of the remaining site and continuously working with contractors to promote progress. It is expected that by the end of December 2025, the central axis route will be technically opened to traffic, and put into operation in early 2026.

In the middle of the vast construction site, each meter of road and each bridge span is gradually being completed, bringing with it the expectation of a new urban appearance for Tran Bien ward - the administrative center of Dong Nai. When Thong Nhat bridge and Vam Ong An bridge are completed simultaneously, the black asphalt road winding across the river, connecting residential areas, will open up a strategic traffic axis, reducing the load on existing routes and creating development momentum for the central area of the province.
