According to Dr. Ho Thi Hoa, Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control at the Provincial Center for Disease Control, in the first 11 months of 2025, the rate of children under 1 year old receiving full vaccinations (including tuberculosis vaccine, 5-in-1 vaccine, measles vaccine, oral polio vaccine, and inactivated polio vaccine) throughout the province reached 88.5%, ensuring the planned progress. The vaccination network from the provincial to the commune level has been maintained and strengthened, meeting the requirements for directing, managing, and organizing the implementation of the Expanded Immunization Program.
For the hepatitis B vaccine for newborns, the vaccination rate within the first 24 hours at healthcare facilities with delivery rooms reached 95.7%, exceeding the planned target (≥90%). However, the vaccination rate under the new management system reached only 72.7%, falling short of the requirement. The main reasons are that the children were born outside the province, some cases of delayed vaccination, and the slow updating of data on the National Immunization Information Management System.
During the year, the health sector organized 11 training courses on vaccination safety and 15 monitoring and professional support sessions for lower-level facilities, contributing to improving the quality and ensuring safety in vaccination. At the same time, the province also implemented 4 measles vaccination campaigns from September 2024 to May 2025, achieving a coverage rate of 96.6%, with over 203,000 people vaccinated.
The review of vaccination history and catch-up vaccinations for preschool and primary school children continues to be carried out on a large scale. By mid-December 2025, most communes and wards had implemented the program and submitted reports, with many localities achieving and exceeding the set targets.
Despite the achievements, the Expanded Immunization Program (EIP) still faces some difficulties such as large population fluctuations, increased workload, shortage of personnel at the grassroots level, unstable supply of some types of vaccines, and limitations in updating immunization data.
In the coming period, the Dong Nai health sector will continue to closely coordinate with local authorities to review and manage vaccination targets; organize catch-up and supplementary vaccinations for vaccines that have not been fully administered; strengthen communication to raise public awareness, and strive to maintain and improve the vaccination coverage rate in the province.
