Dong Thap launches Humanitarian Month 2026

(DTO) On the morning of May 8th, the Dong Thap Provincial Red Cross Society held the launching ceremony for the "Humanitarian Month" 2026 with the theme "80 Years - A Journey of Compassion for the Community".

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chairwoman of the Dong Thap Provincial Red Cross Society, Dang Thi Thu Uyen, emphasized that this year's Humanitarian Month holds special significance as it coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Red Cross Society . Through this, it contributes to spreading the tradition of solidarity and compassion of the nation; and awakens the spirit of responsibility and sharing for the community among all segments of the population.

Representatives of businesses and philanthropists presented symbolic plaques to support the series of activities for the 2026 Humanitarian Month.

Speaking at the launch of the 2026 Humanitarian Month, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Vo Chi Huu, called on all levels, sectors, the business community, and the entire society to continue working together to carry out humanitarian and charitable activities; to care for vulnerable people, poor households, and those affected by natural disasters and epidemics, contributing to building a united and compassionate community.

Representatives presented gifts to people in difficult circumstances at the launching ceremony.

In response to the program, many businesses, charitable organizations, and philanthropists have registered to support the series of activities for the 2026 Humanitarian Month with a total value of billions of VND.

Specifically, the Management Board of the Charity Kitchen at Sa Dec General Hospital contributed 1.23 billion VND; the Red Cross branch of the Do Cong Tuong Ancestral Temple contributed 1 ton of rice and 200 gift packages worth 155 million VND; and the Little Hearts humanitarian medical examination group in Ho Chi Minh City contributed 150 million VND...

People in difficult circumstances visit and shop at the "Zero-Cost Market" model after the launching ceremony.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented 100 gifts to people in difficult circumstances, orphaned children, elderly people living alone, households with seriously ill members, and those affected by natural disasters and epidemics in My Tho ward. After the launching ceremony, delegates visited the "Zero-Cost Market" model, which serves approximately 200 people in difficult circumstances who come to buy essential goods free of charge.
