Visiting, giving gifts, and encouraging workers who were working throughout the Tet holiday, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of the Hanoi City Federation of Labor, acknowledged their sense of responsibility and determination to accelerate progress from the very first days of the new year, contributing to the early completion of key projects to serve the people and beautify the capital city.

Reporting at the meeting, representatives of the contractor for the Me Tri regulating reservoir construction project stated that the project has a total contract value of over 255 billion VND, with construction scheduled to begin at the end of January 2026 and aiming for completion within 2026. Immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony, the contractor established a site management team consisting of one site manager, two deputy site managers, and nine technical staff; mobilizing sufficient personnel and equipment to simultaneously implement key project components.

Currently, the construction site is organized into four teams, mobilizing 14 excavators and 80 transport vehicles, ensuring an excavation and transport productivity of approximately 10,000 m³/day. Simultaneously, four teams are constructing the cap beams and revetment slopes; and deploying connecting culverts and drainage systems.

The goal was to complete the lake excavation before April 15th and essentially finish the main components before the 2026 rainy season. Maintaining construction throughout the Tet holiday helped the site quickly stabilize its organization, creating momentum for accelerated progress right from the beginning of the new year.

At the Phu Do regulating lake project, various components are being implemented simultaneously. The project is gradually completing the lake system according to the drainage plan, supporting regulation, increasing water storage capacity, improving the landscape environment, and mitigating flooding in the western area of Hanoi.

The reservoir has a regulating capacity of approximately 0.93 million m3, connecting to the Mai Dịch - Phú Đô canal and the Mỹ Đình - Tân Mỹ canal (which have been culverted). It drains by gravity into the Nhuệ River when the water level is low, and is pumped by power through a mobile pumping station at the reservoir and the Đồng Bông 1-2 pumping station when the Nhuệ River water level rises. Upon completion, the Phú Đô regulating reservoir will address 8 flooding points, contributing to reducing pressure on the regional drainage system.

Construction workers continued working throughout the Lunar New Year holiday on reservoir projects.

The Project Management Board has launched a campaign to implement the "80-day campaign to put the project into use and operation," with the determination to organize construction in 3 shifts, 4 teams, throughout holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), ensuring that the project is put into use before April 30, 2026.

Notably, alongside construction work, the units paid special attention to the material and spiritual well-being of their staff and workers, especially during Tet (Lunar New Year). The company committed to paying salaries and bonuses in full and on time before the holiday; workers who worked during Tet received at least 300% of their regular daily wage. Many meaningful activities such as "Tet Reunion" and "Year-End Dinner" were organized right at the construction site; Tet gifts were given directly to workers in difficult circumstances and those who stayed on duty during Tet, creating a warm and sharing atmosphere.

Speaking at the visit, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang acknowledged and highly appreciated the diligent and responsible work ethic of the staff, engineers, and workers at the construction site. He emphasized that the regulating reservoir projects are of great importance in improving the environment, enhancing drainage capacity, and contributing to urban beautification in the western area of Hanoi; therefore, ensuring the progress, quality, and safety of the projects is an extremely important task.

The Chairman of the City Labor Union requested that the contractor continue to pay attention to labor safety, food safety and hygiene, fire prevention and control; closely coordinate with grassroots trade union organizations to understand the thoughts and aspirations of workers, and promptly support those in difficult situations, so that workers can feel secure in their jobs and remain committed to the company in the long term.

On this occasion, the leaders of the Hanoi City Federation of Labor presented gifts and encouraged workers who were working throughout the Tet holiday, sending wishes for a prosperous and safe new year and successful completion of assigned tasks. Although the gifts were not of great material value, they demonstrated the care and support of the Hanoi Labor Union for the workers – those who are working day and night on construction sites, contributing to the early completion of key projects, serving the community's interests and the sustainable development of the capital city.
