At the seminar, experts from the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Pacific Environment project, and leaders of exemplary green accommodation models focused on guiding state management agencies, units, and businesses in implementing regulations to ensure environmental protection in tourism activities according to the two-tiered local government model.

Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Van Ba Son, spoke at the seminar.
On this occasion, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also arranged a space to display green transformation solutions such as: typical green tourism destination models, green and environmentally friendly products, local OCOP products… This is an opportunity for businesses and organizations to exchange, discuss, and cooperate in selecting alternative materials in the process of operating businesses in the direction of green transformation.
According to Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the context of the newly merged city with an expanded tourism space and enriched cultural and ecological values, Da Nang is considered a bright spot in the country's green transformation journey. The city not only inherits a modern and dynamic tourism foundation but also continues the spirit of heritage preservation, environmental protection, and sustainable community development.

Representatives from the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Environment presented the legal regulations on environmental protection.
The practical implementation of green accommodation models and sustainable tourism businesses has yielded clear results. Accommodation establishments such as Furama, Four Seasons, Silksense Riverside Resort, La Siesta, Almanity… along with homestays and villas that have received sustainability certifications have seen an average increase of 30% in bookings; a 40% increase in revenue; and a 20% reduction in operating costs, especially energy and waste disposal. This clearly demonstrates that green development not only protects the environment but also increases economic value for businesses.
However, many opinions at the seminar also reflected that the green transformation process of the tourism industry still faces many challenges. The use of single-use plastics at tourism establishments in Da Nang is still common; waste sorting at source has not been implemented consistently; waste treatment infrastructure, low-emission transportation, and renewable energy have not kept pace with the growth rate of tourism; and there is a shortage of human resources knowledgeable in and practicing sustainable tourism, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Showcasing green solutions in tourism activities.
With that orientation, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is currently continuing to refine and adjust the set of criteria for green tourism, approaching the standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), in order to unify green practices throughout the city and create favorable conditions for businesses to access international sustainability certifications.
