Unlocking resources, enhancing linkages.
Recently, at the National Green Tourism Forum held in Lam Dong, leaders of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration stated that, along with impressive recovery and growth, Vietnamese tourism is gradually asserting its position as a key economic sector. However, the impacts of climate change, environmental pollution at some destinations, and overcrowding are raising alarm bells. This necessitates sustainable development, harmonizing the efficient exploitation of tourism resources with environmental protection and enhancing the competitiveness of destinations.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, compared to other localities with strong tourism development in the country and the region, Lam Dong's competitiveness is still limited, and the province has not fully exploited its tourism potential. This includes: an unattractive investment and business environment; inconsistent infrastructure connecting regions and key tourist areas (lack of standard expressways and national highways, especially those linking regions horizontally and vertically); and many small and medium-sized enterprises facing difficulties in accessing capital, technology, markets, and digital transformation.
At the Provincial Competitiveness Enhancement and Business Investment Environment Improvement Workshop, Mr. Le Tang Trong Nghia, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Tourism Association, stated that the province possesses a unique advantage: the intersection and connection between the picturesque highlands and the blue sea. This is not just a tourist attraction, but also an economic tourism corridor that elevates the province's competitiveness to a completely different level.
To translate potential into concrete growth figures on the economic chart, local authorities and businesses need to work together, sharing a common vision. With synchronized investment in transportation infrastructure, transparent data systems, and upgraded tourism products, Lam Dong will not only be an attractive destination but also a model for competitiveness and investment environment in Vietnam.

Aiming to welcome 25 million visitors.
Over the years, alongside the process of mergers and restructuring of development space, the province has gradually invested in improving infrastructure serving tourism. The inter-regional and intra-regional transportation systems have been upgraded synchronously; many key expressways and national highways have been put into operation or are under construction. This has shortened travel time and enhanced connectivity between areas within the province and major economic and tourism centers nationwide.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, from the beginning of the year, the department has developed a comprehensive program and organized many cultural, sports, and tourism events to attract tourists to Lam Dong. Simultaneously, programs to stimulate demand and promote the tourism image have been implemented, targeting both domestic and international markets. The tourism industry expects 2026 to be a bumper year, thereby spreading positive messages about tourism and the people of Lam Dong.
The period from 2026 to 2030 is identified as a time of strong transformation for Lam Dong's tourism industry, gradually asserting its competitive position domestically and regionally. Clearly defining key tasks along with synchronized and practical solutions will expand opportunities to attract investment, improve the business environment, support businesses to operate effectively, and make tourism a truly leading economic sector, making a significant contribution to the sustainable socio-economic development of the province. However, to realize these goals, the province needs to clearly define its vision and specific objectives for each stage. Simultaneously, it needs to strengthen the competitiveness of Lam Dong as a tourist destination, improve the investment and business environment towards attractiveness and transparency, and support tourism businesses in innovation and creativity.
Based on this, Lam Dong needs to continue restructuring its service and tourism sectors to create new development momentum; diversify tourism products, prioritizing the development of new, high-quality products linked to the application of digital technology and capable of competing based on the province's unique advantages. Simultaneously, building a tourism brand strategy and designing a clear brand identity with its own unique characteristics and core values, along with a unified communication message, will contribute to positioning Lam Dong as a destination in the minds of domestic and international tourists.
