Attractive destination

Thanh Hoa is not only a land of “spiritual land and talented people”, with a long history and culture, but is also known for many historical relics and attractive landscapes that captivate people. To promote the potential and build the Thanh Hoa tourism brand to reach the region and the world, the province is implementing many drastic and effective solutions.

Exploring the land and people of Thanh Hoa, we see a miniature Vietnam, where the sacred souls of mountains and rivers converge, where the traditional underground stream flows endlessly. With these advantages, Thanh Hoa plays an important role in connecting inter-regional tourism in the North Central region, and is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

In particular, Thanh Hoa is blessed by nature with 102km of coastline, with many flat beaches, fresh environment, beautiful natural landscapes, including Sam Son, Hai Tien, Hai Hoa...

Along with that, along the coast there are many mountain ranges that jut out, creating lagoons such as Gam lagoon, Thuy lagoon, Bien lagoon, interspersed with estuaries such as Lach Sung, Lach Truong, Lach Hoi, Lach Bang and Lach Ghep, creating a very diverse natural landscape system.

In addition, Thanh Hoa sea is also adorned by a system of large and small islands such as Hon Me, Hon Ne, Nghi Son... with great potential for exploitation and development into attractive tourism products.

It can be affirmed that Thanh Hoa is a destination with many diverse tourism resources, eco-tourism, sea tourism, resorts, high-class hotels, restaurant systems, and infrastructure serving tourists with synchronous investment.

With abundant natural resources, sea resort tourism is identified as the strength or spearhead product of Thanh Hoa tourism. Therefore, in the development orientation, this is a product that is prioritized for investment, in order to realize the goal of building Thanh Hoa into an attractive destination, with modern and high-class sea resorts.

Thanks to the orientation and investment of the province and localities, up to now, Thanh Hoa beach resort tourism products have gradually built a brand in the Northern and North Central regions, at the same time, basically meeting the diverse needs of tourist market segments from mid-range to high-end.

According to a report by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa, in the first 6 months of 2023, the province is estimated to welcome more than 8.3 million tourists, an increase of 13% over the same period in 2022, with total revenue from tourism estimated at more than 15,000 billion VND, an increase of 16.7% over the same period in 2022 and reaching 63.2% of the 2023 plan.

During the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year, Thanh Hoa also welcomed the highest number of tourists in the country with nearly 1.2 million arrivals. In 2022, the province is estimated to welcome 11.01 million tourists; of which international visitors are estimated to reach 245 thousand arrivals, 11.47 times higher than in 2021. In 2023, Thanh Hoa aims to welcome 12 million tourists.

Since the beginning of 2023, many cultural, sports and tourism activities have taken place in the province, attracting the attention of a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. Along with that, Thanh Hoa focuses on promoting tourism linkage, promotion and advertising activities to localities and travel businesses nationwide; developing new tours and tourist routes.

Clearly identifying the important role of technology in the development of the tourism industry, in recent years, Thanh Hoa province has actively applied digital technology in tourism promotion and advertising activities, especially in developing smart tourism.

On February 22, 2022, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued Decision No. 688/QD-UBND on recognizing the logo and slogan "Thanh Hoa Tourism - Four Seasons of Fragrance". The issuance of the Thanh Hoa tourism brand identity officially marks Thanh Hoa tourism on the tourism map of Vietnam in particular and the world in general, at the same time, contributing to building and enhancing the Thanh Hoa tourism brand in the new period, creating consistency in promoting tourism images, thereby attracting tourists.

New tourism products are needed.

Despite impressive results, the development of the province’s coastal resort tourism products has not yet matched its potential. Thanh Hoa still lacks high-end tourism products, while new tourism products are still very modest.

Ms. Vuong Thi Hai Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa, said that in order to make tourism a spearhead economic sector, in the coming time, the province will continue to implement strategies to build Thanh Hoa into an attractive destination with typical tourism products such as spiritual tourism, community eco-tourism, green tourism, sea tourism, etc. In addition, the province also focuses on developing tourism from quantity to quality, with a focus, in the direction of proactive integration, improving efficiency and professionalism, ensuring tourism products have brands and are highly competitive.

Thanh Hoa is aiming to become an attractive destination with modern, high-class beach resorts. To realize that, experts and tourism managers believe that the province needs to have a comprehensive, long-term development strategy for the tourism industry in general and beach tourism in particular, focusing on new, unique tourism products that are competitive and meet the tastes and consumption trends of tourists. In particular, the province needs to focus on high-class, professional, civilized resort tourism products, ensuring sustainable development; combining health care services, sports tourism, traditional and modern entertainment, MICE tourism, etc.

At the same time, the province also needs to pay attention to developing community ecotourism products, river tourism, and agricultural tourism, in order to connect and effectively complement the coastal resort tourism products. In addition, based on existing resources, it is necessary to encourage and attract investors to develop new tourism products, unique types of services, with their own mark, to attract tourists.

At the Conference on tourism development cooperation and connection, tours and routes between Thanh Hoa province and other provinces and cities in 2023, Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said that in the current context, Thanh Hoa province needs to focus on exploiting cultural values in tourism development; finding different cultural values based on similar products between localities to link in depth. In addition, it is necessary to pay more attention to natural landscapes, tourism environment... aiming to attract diverse tourist markets, including international visitors.
