According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), in July, Vietnam welcomed more than one million international visitors, an increase of 6.5% over the previous month. Compared to the same period in 2022, the number of international visitors to Vietnam increased by 194.6%. In the first 7 months, the total number of international visitors reached nearly 6.6 million, equivalent to 83% of the 2023 plan.
With 83% of the annual plan for welcoming international visitors after only the first 7 months of the year, it is likely that the tourism industry will soon complete its target in 2023 and still have a lot of room to continue growing when entering the peak international tourism season at the end of the year.
German news site DW recently commented that tourism has almost completely recovered after the pandemic and Vietnam is gradually becoming a favorite destination for tourists when coming to Asia. Vietnam has quickly become one of the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia, as tourists have the opportunity to enjoy diverse landscapes such as mountains, sea, terraced fields or the hustle and bustle of cities.
The top 10 markets still include names from the Northeast Asia region including South Korea (1.8 million arrivals), China (738,000 arrivals), Taiwan (China with 415,000 arrivals), Japan (284,000 arrivals). The Southeast Asia region has 3 markets: Thailand (290,000 arrivals), Malaysia (262,000 arrivals), Cambodia (225,000 arrivals). Australia ranked 9th with 221,000 arrivals to Vietnam. The emerging market of India ranked 10th (213,000 arrivals).
In July 2023, many foreign media agencies continuously selected and honored Vietnamese destinations; contributing to promoting the image of beautiful, friendly and attractive Vietnamese tourism to international friends.
