Vietnam's tourism industry is about to welcome its 20 millionth international visitor to Phu Quoc.

The milestone of welcoming 20 million international visitors affirms the international market's confidence in Vietnam as a safe, friendly, and experience-rich destination, with endless beauty both tangible and intangible.

According to information from the National Tourism Administration, the ceremony to welcome the 20 millionth international tourist will take place at Phu Quoc International Airport in mid-December.

This is a particularly significant milestone for Vietnam's tourism industry. Industry leaders believe that the figure of 20 million international visitors affirms the country's attractiveness and new position on the world tourism map, proving that Vietnam is becoming a leading destination in the region, attracting tourists with its unique culture, beautiful nature, distinctive cuisine, and diverse and rich experiences.

This milestone confirms the strong recovery of the international tourism market after the pandemic, in which Vietnam is keeping pace with the global recovery trend, continuing to maintain sustainable growth as evidenced by stable growth rates and a high number of returning visitors.

More importantly, the "20 million mark" affirms the trust that international tourists place in Vietnam, a safe, friendly, and experience-rich destination with endless beauty, both tangible and intangible.

This will also mark a significant step forward, creating momentum for Vietnam to achieve its goal of 35 million international tourists by 2030, contributing to making tourism a key economic sector and enhancing the national brand.

According to statistics, after 11 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed approximately 19 million international visitors (a 20.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024). With stable growth in the fourth quarter and the continued positive recovery of international tourism demand, reaching the 20 million international visitor mark by mid-December 2025 is considered feasible and has a solid foundation.

This is the first time in 65 years of its formation and development that Vietnam's tourism industry has reached the milestone of 20 million international visitors in a single year, marking a new development level for the country's tourism in the process of recovery and growth.

This result further affirms the effectiveness of the decisive and consistent directives of the Government and the Prime Minister in implementing tasks and solutions to promote tourism recovery and development in the past period. In particular, it demonstrates the effectiveness of improving visa policies, expanding the international tourist market, strengthening promotion and marketing, and enhancing the quality of tourism products and services.

Sound and comprehensive policies and strategies have contributed to strengthening Vietnam's position as a safe, attractive, and increasingly competitive destination in the region and the world.

The planned event to welcome the 20 millionth passenger will include: a welcoming ceremony for the 20 millionth passenger on the flight; and a ceremony honoring three international passengers, namely the 19,999,999th, 20,000,000th, and 20,000,001st passengers, with many attractive gifts.
