| Students visit and learn at Uncle Ho's Memorial House in Duong No village. |
That is one of many highlights after nearly 5 years of implementing the project "Promoting the value of President Ho Chi Minh relics in Hue City to serve tourism development" in the period 2021 - 2025.
Following Uncle Ho's footsteps during his youth in Hue
Deployed in mid-2021, the project focuses on assessing the current status of promoting the value of the museum system and memorial sites of President Ho Chi Minh in Hue. During the project implementation process, the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City coordinated with travel agencies to build a tour "Following Uncle Ho's footsteps in his youth in Hue". This tour focuses on relics belonging to the system of memorial sites of President Ho Chi Minh in Hue City, such as Uncle Ho's Memorial House on Mai Thuc Loan Street, Uncle Ho's Memorial House in Duong No Village, Duong No Village Communal House, Quoc Hoc School... After the implementation period, the tour has received attention from travel agencies and tourism companies, regularly bringing groups to visit the museum and this system of relics.
Ms. Le Thuy Chi - Director of Ho Chi Minh Museum, Hue City, said that the highlight of the project that was recognized during the implementation process was the construction of an automatic explanation system with information levels from general introduction, topics, titles, collections, typical artifacts and divided into information groups suitable for visitors' visiting time. Based on QR code scanning technology, visitors can easily use and interact with a simple, eye-catching, easy-to-understand interface.
Mr. Bui Van Chinh, Deputy Director of May Ngoc Travel Company Limited - a unit participating in the tour operation, said that Hue possesses many rare cultural heritage values, including the heritage system related to Uncle Ho. The tour to visit heritages related to Uncle Ho is one of the special tours, contributing to educating the tradition of patriotism for all classes of people, especially the youth.
However, from the perspective of a tourism professional, according to Mr. Chinh, this tour is still limited to the local area and has not been spread and expanded to other localities. Therefore, he suggested that there should be more connection and expansion to expand the number of participants.
Towards "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space"
Discussing the tour to visit relics of Uncle Ho, Mr. Tran Quang Dung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Duong No Ward - a locality with two special national relics, Duong No Communal House and Uncle Ho Memorial House, acknowledged that the locality has received attention from all levels and sectors in preserving and promoting the value of the relics. However, the obstacle is that the infrastructure connecting the relic sites in the ward is still not synchronized, limiting the reception of large groups of visitors. In addition, the tour has not been connected with the tours on the Huong River to craft villages with the system of Uncle Ho relics. The locality is ready to connect with sectors and units to have a long-term orientation for these tours.
Despite many successes, Ms. Le Thuy Chi admitted that the Project still faces many difficulties when some relic sites of President Ho Chi Minh in Hue are located in residential areas, making it difficult to expand space and improve the landscape. Tours and tourist routes associated with relic sites of Uncle Ho have not been connected inter-regionally and have not participated in regional and national tourism promotion programs. Some regulations on management and exploitation of relic sites are not really unified, and the mechanism to encourage socialization and attract non-budgetary resources is not strong enough to motivate businesses and the community to participate.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, said that based on the practice of nearly 5 years of implementing the Project, the Department will propose to the People's Committee of Hue City to continue to develop the Project for the period 2025 - 2026. This Project will continue to focus on the issue of preserving, embellishing and perfecting the space of President Ho Chi Minh's memorial relics in Hue. In particular, gradually building an expanded "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space", connecting relics, cultural institutions, schools and tourist attractions in the city, creating a vibrant heritage complex with long-term influence in community life.
Mr. Binh also said that it is necessary to increase socialization and mobilize resources to develop relics. This encourages businesses, organizations, and individuals inside and outside the city to participate in investing, sponsoring, and accompanying in the restoration, display, organization of events, and development of souvenir products. At the same time, establish a network of collaborators, closely cooperate with travel agencies, tourism associations, accommodation establishments, and schools to introduce and connect tours and routes to the relic system.
