The program provides students with the opportunity to directly engage with various forms of folk performing arts of the nation.

The program "Sounds of the Roots - School Poetry" is organized by the Department of Culture and Arts and the Poetry Club of the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural and Exhibition Center in collaboration with the school's "I Love Vietnamese" Club.

The familiar school environment resonated with the sounds of the bầu and nguyệt zithers, folk melodies, and performances by folk artists. The program, lasting approximately one hour, offered students the opportunity to directly engage with traditional performing arts through hands-on experience.

The program began with an interactive session titled "Activating Emotions - From the Pages to the Voice of the Singer." Distinguished artist Thanh Nhàn presented the familiar folk verse: "A father's love is like Mount Thái Sơn / A mother's love is like the water flowing from a spring..." in the form of a traditional lullaby.

Immediately afterwards, Master of Culture Pham Thai Binh interacted with the students by asking questions related to the content of the folk poem. Many students enthusiastically participated in answering, sharing their thoughts on filial piety and family affection.

According to the organizers, the program's goal is not only to introduce folk poetry but also to help students appreciate cultural values through live performances. Instead of simply learning from books, students get to listen, watch, and interact with the artists.

The schoolyard atmosphere remained vibrant as folk songs from the three regions of Vietnam were presented one after another. Each performance was linked to the cultural characteristics of its respective region, helping students gain a better understanding of the diversity in Vietnamese folk art.

In the introduction to Northern Vietnamese folk songs, the artists recreated the atmosphere of Quan Ho folk singing with traditional costumes of the male and female singers. The folk song "Trong Com" performed by artists Le Thuy, Ngoc Thang, Hong Man, and Tran Duyen received enthusiastic applause from the students.

Many children were invited onto the stage to sing along with the artists, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. Through this format, the children not only watched the performance but also directly participated in folk art activities.

Following the program was an introduction to the Ví and Giặm folk songs of Nghe Tinh. Artists Ha Huong Lai, Duc Tuong, Thanh Tu, and Hoang Dai performed an excerpt from "A Life for a Noble Cause," which praises the teaching profession and expresses affection for teachers.

According to the organizers, selecting performances that are relevant to the school environment makes them easier for students to accept, while also creating a connection between traditional art and modern life.

At the end of the program, the students enjoyed Southern Vietnamese folk music through the performance of "Teachers Forever Beautiful Through the Spring Seasons" in the Vọng Kim Lang style, performed by Cẩm Yến - a young member of the Southern Vietnamese Folk Music Club of the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural and Exhibition Center.

The appearance of a young artist attracted much attention from the students. Through this, the program showed that traditional art is still being carried on among the younger generation.

Besides the performances, the program also included an interactive game called "Whose Sound Is This?", helping students identify traditional musical instruments through their distinctive sounds. Many students enthusiastically participated and correctly identified instruments such as the bầu lute, nguyệt lute, and bamboo flute.

According to a representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Culture and Exhibitions, the program "Sounds of the Roots - School Poetry" is designed to bring traditional art closer to students through hands-on experience.

In recent years, the integration of cultural heritage into schools has been a focus of many educational and cultural institutions. In the 2018 General Education Program, the content of traditional cultural education is encouraged to be incorporated through experiential activities, thematic workshops, and artistic exchanges.

Collaboration between cultural institutions and schools is considered one of the solutions to supplement resources for traditional cultural education activities. Through the direct participation of artisans, students have the opportunity to access folk performance art forms in a more vivid way.

According to many teachers who participated in the program, the interactive format helped students focus and become more interested compared to simply learning through theory. The performances were designed to be concise and suitable for elementary school children, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the program.

On this occasion, musician and poet Tran Tat Dinh, Chairman of the Poetry Club, also presented the school with a collection of poems and songs containing 30 works about children.
