“Sinners” is set in the 1930s, a period when the United States enacted Jim Crow laws, the most racist laws of the time. Jim Crow laws enforced racial segregation in all public facilities in the former Confederate states and other states.
The film revolves around twin brothers Smoke and Stack. Both of them return to their hometown after many years away. Their town is a small area, where people of color live, and the special thing here is that they love to sing and dance. Smoke and Stack are no exception. There is also a legend here about people using their musical talent to call up evil spirits.
After a warm and cozy party, a group of white people suddenly appeared, wanting to join the fun of the town. From here, this town began to have unusual things. One by one, people died tragically, the whole small town seemed to be fighting against a terrible force: bloodthirsty vampires.
The official trailer for “Sinners” reveals that Michael B. Jordan will play a dual role, playing two identical twins. At the beginning of the trailer, viewers can see Jordan’s character sinking into grief as the terrifying vision of death continues to haunt him. When he returns to the countryside, he witnesses strange rituals, as well as unusual behavior from those around him.
The saying: “If you play with the devil… one day he will follow you home” hints at an evil force and the mysterious actions in the past of both main characters, promising a quality horror film, delving into the deepest fears in the human mind but with a completely new way of expression from the talented young director Ryan Coogler.
Besides Michael B. Jordan, the film also features a star-studded cast including Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Li Jun Li... Leading composer, who won an Oscar with Oppenheimer's soundtrack - Ludwig Göransson also participated in this film.
