Proactive prevention
At LG Innotek Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Hai Phong (Trang Due Industrial Park), which currently employs over 5,000 workers, occupational safety and health practices are implemented systematically. The company maintains a network of 42 occupational safety and health officers, ensuring that each production team has at least one person in charge during working hours.
The 5S activities (sorting, systematizing, cleaning, standardizing, sustaining) are implemented regularly; 100% of employees receive training in occupational safety and hygiene, fire prevention and control, are provided with full protective equipment (2 sets for summer, 1 set for winter), participate in 24/7 accident insurance with a maximum compensation of 180 million VND/case, and receive annual health check-ups.
Mr. Mai Van Sung, Vice Chairman of the company's Trade Union, said that every month the company, in coordination with the trade union, organizes safety patrols and monitoring sessions. The trade union participates in advising on the proper provision of personal protective equipment and also receives and relays employee feedback to the management board to promptly improve policies and ensure they are appropriate to practical realities.
At Proteial Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Tan Truong Industrial Park), occupational safety and health have been a priority since the company began operations. The company has strengthened its Occupational Safety and Health Committee, built a network of safety and health officers in all departments, and ensured continuous monitoring throughout all stages of production.
The company's labor union, in coordination with management, promotes the dissemination of knowledge on occupational safety and hygiene; proactively advises on organizing periodic health check-ups and occupational disease examinations for all workers, contributing to protecting the rights and health of employees.
As a specialized enterprise in the petroleum sector, Hai Phong Petroleum Company Limited ( Petrolimex Hai Phong) places safety as its top priority. All production and business processes are strictly adhered to, from fire prevention and environmental sanitation to occupational safety.
Workers receive thorough training and are fully equipped with personal protective equipment. In addition, the company flexibly provides support according to weather conditions: funding for purchasing water and cooling tea on hot days; and assistance with cold weather when temperatures drop. These activities are implemented by the labor union, contributing to the well-being of the workers.
According to Mr. Nguyen Khac Khai, Chairman of the Petrolimex Hai Phong Trade Union, the company has shifted from "passive response" to "proactive prevention" through risk assessment for each job position and department; strengthening supervision and strictly implementing occupational safety and hygiene procedures at the workplace.

Innovate management methods.
According to the city's Department of Internal Affairs, Hai Phong currently has over 37,000 operating businesses with approximately 1 million workers. This large scale presents numerous challenges for occupational safety and health management. Some businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, have not paid sufficient attention to this issue; training remains largely superficial, lacking dedicated personnel and a network of occupational safety and health inspectors as required by regulations.
In 2025, the city recorded 30 workplace accidents, resulting in 32 fatalities (an increase of 3 accidents and 5 fatalities compared to 2024). The first three months of 2026 saw another 2 workplace accidents, resulting in 2 deaths. The main causes were a lack of safety measures; inadequate worker training; and substandard construction equipment. Some construction contractors neglected management and lacked proper supervision. Workers were also careless and did not adhere to procedures, especially at construction sites, including individual houses.
With the theme "Innovating management and improving the effectiveness of occupational safety and health in the digital age," the 2026 Occupational Safety and Health Action Month sets out the requirement to promote the application of digital technology and improve the effectiveness of risk control in labor and production.
Speaking at the launching ceremony on April 22nd, Comrade Vu Tien Phung, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, and Chairman of the City's Occupational Safety and Health Council, emphasized that occupational safety and health is a core element in protecting people and a foundation for sustainable development. He called on the entire political system, the business community, and workers to join hands in action to build a safe working environment.

labor.
Representatives from the city's Department of Internal Affairs stated that occupational safety and health work should not be limited to the action month but should be maintained regularly. Management agencies need to set specific goals, strengthen inspections, tighten discipline; review high-risk industries, and strictly handle violations.
All levels of government, sectors, localities, and businesses need to strengthen propaganda and raise awareness, especially in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector. Trade unions should continue to play a supervisory role, coordinating risk assessments within businesses; implementing movements such as "Green - Clean - Beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene," "Technical innovation initiatives, improving working conditions," and building a culture of occupational safety. This will not only help businesses minimize risks but also create a safe and sustainable working environment, contributing to stable production and protecting the rights of workers.
