Speaking to Thanh Nien this morning, April 13, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport Bui Hoa An said that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has agreed to extend the operation of pier No. 2 of Bach Dang Wharf Park (District 1) until the end of 2023. This means that the Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau high-speed train route operated by DP Green Technology Company Limited (GreenlinesDP) will continue to operate from tomorrow (April 14) until December 31, 2023.

Previously, GreenlinesDP sent a request to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee with the wish to use the inland waterway terminal at Bach Dang high-speed train station to serve tourists during the upcoming Hung Kings' death anniversary and April 30 - May 1 holidays, after the Department of Transport decided not to extend the operation at this waterway terminal.

According to GreenlinesDP, this year, the holiday is long, so the number of tourists going to Vung Tau is very large. Up to now, the number of tourists who have booked and bought tickets online for Greenlines DP high-speed trains from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau and vice versa has reached thousands. Most of the high-speed train tickets have been sold, the company is having to cancel and refund about 8,000 tickets sold to customers.

"The fact that the high-speed boat fleet is not allowed to operate due to the expired berth license will affect the company's reputation. At the same time, it will cause inconvenience to tourists and increase road traffic congestion during the peak holiday season. Meanwhile, finding a new berth to continue operating will take a lot of time, so it will not be able to meet the needs of passengers traveling during this holiday. Therefore, the company hopes that the city will temporarily extend the license of the inland waterway berth at Bach Dang high-speed boat station to serve tourists during the holiday" - Mr. Tran Song Hai, General Director of GreenlinesDP said.

According to Mr. Hai, during that time, the company is still carrying out procedures to apply for a new wharf license and prepare infrastructure for the relocation ceremony. The company also requested to hand over all current facilities at the train station to the receiving management agency and not request compensation, in the spirit of donating all facilities at the train station along with the cost of converting the function into a place for community activities according to the requirements of the City People's Committee and the Department of Transport.
