Overview of the 15B road project
Road 15B (the extension of Nguyen Luong Bang Street) is one of the key infrastructure projects in the South of Ho Chi Minh City, which is identified as playing an important role in completing the traffic network and connecting to the Can Gio Bridge project. This route runs parallel to Huynh Tan Phat Street, starting at Nguyen Van Linh Street and ending at the temporary wharf area near Rach Dia.

The project to build Road 15B was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2015. However, the project has not been implemented yet because the city has not balanced its capital sources. Currently, preparations for inventory and compensation for site clearance are ready to be implemented as soon as capital is available.

Technical specifications and detailed planning
According to the plan, Road 15B has a length of more than 3.5 km and a cross-section width of 40 m. The specific route of the route is as follows:
- Starting point: Intersection with Nguyen Binh Street, the area planned to connect with Can Gio Bridge.
- Route: The route passes through Phu Xuan Residential Area, continues north through Hong Linh Residential Area and Minh Long Residential Area.
- End point: Ends at Ben Tam area (Rach Dia), connecting to existing road 15B.

Strategic connecting role for Can Gio bridge and Phu My Hung urban area
The implementation of Highway 15B is crucial to the effectiveness of the Can Gio Bridge project. The Can Gio Bridge, with a planned length of 7.3 km across the Soai Rap River, will replace the Binh Khanh ferry, creating a direct connection between Can Gio and the city center. The route of this bridge depends directly on the progress of Highway 15B.

When completed, Road 15B will not only serve residential areas along the route but also create a direct connection from Can Gio Bridge to Phu My Hung Urban Area. This is a model urban area and the largest economic and financial center in the South of Ho Chi Minh City, with a scale of about 2,600 hectares.

Proposal to build Phu Xuan 2B bridge to synchronize infrastructure
To complete the connection, the Department of Transport (now the Department of Construction) also proposed to build Phu Xuan 2B bridge. This bridge will connect from the new 15B road (Nha Be district), cross Dia canal to connect to the existing 15B road.
The Phu Xuan 2B bridge project is about 660 m long and 30 m wide, with a total estimated investment of 754 billion VND from the city budget. Like Road 15B, this project was also approved in principle in 2015 but has not been implemented.

Synchronous implementation plan
According to the plan, Can Gio Bridge is expected to start construction in 2025 and be completed in 2028. To ensure the synchronization and maximize the effectiveness of this project, the Department of Transport has proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee allocate capital to invest in Route 15B and Phu Xuan 2B Bridge in the period of 2024 - 2027.

The early implementation of these projects is a necessary step in the context of the South Saigon area being promoted with infrastructure investment with a series of other projects such as Thu Thiem 4 bridge, Nguyen Khoi road and bridge, expansion of National Highway 50 and Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway.
