The Elroq is proving more popular than expected, with Skoda confirming it has built over 100,000 units in just over 11 months. Production resumed on 21 January 2025 at the Mlada Boleslav complex, the Czech carmaker's main vehicle manufacturing facility. At press time, Mlada Boleslav was also tasked with producing the larger Enyaq and four combustion-engined models, starting with the brand's best-selling Octavia. The other three models are the Golf-based Scala, the smaller Fabia, and the Kamiq crossover. The Czech plant is an important manufacturing site for the Volkswagen Group. In addition to the BEV traction battery system for electric vehicles supported by the rear-biased MEB platform, the plant also produces the EA211 generator and the MQ200 manual transmission.
Pictured above in Hyper Green, the commemorative car is an Elroq RS. The “go-faster” suffix was first used in the 1970s, but in one market the Czech carmaker now uses vRS due to trademark issues. The vRS moniker stands for Victory Rally Sport, and the market in question is the UK. Currently one of the best-selling electric cars in the Old Continent, the Elroq is also the most popular electric car in markets including the Czech Republic, Denmark and Slovakia. Furthermore, it is among the top three best-selling electric cars in Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland. In Germany, the European Union's largest new passenger car market, the Elroq was named best electric car in its class and German Car of the Year 2026 by a jury of 40 international journalists. Among other things, the jury also highlighted the Elroq's value proposition.
Including VAT, the Elroq starts at €33,900 (about $39,300) for the rear-wheel-drive 50 and €38,680 (about $44,800) for the rear-wheel-drive 60. The 85 comes with both rear-wheel drive and two-motor options. The 60, 85, and 85x also get a SportLine version. The Skoda Elroq RS 2026 is clearly at the top of the range, with a starting price of 53,050 euros ($61,500) before options. About 3,000 euros more expensive than the 85x SportLine, it uses the 77 kWh battery pack of all 85 models. The 60 and 50 models get 59 kWh and 52 kWh packs, respectively. The Elroq RS produces 340 ps (335 hp) and no more than 679 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. Skoda Deutschland claims the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, with the Elroq RS reaching a top speed of 180 km/h. However, customers who want maximum range will have to pay 44,180 euros ($51,200) for the Elroq 85.
The Skoda Elroq, a small electric SUV, can travel up to 361 miles (581 km) on a single charge. Under optimal conditions, it can charge from 10% to 80% at up to 175 kilowatts in less than 30 minutes. With this size and equipment, Skoda Elroq is considered the cheapest electric car in the segment in the international market today. It is predicted that this car model will soon be brought to the Vietnamese market by the end of 2026.
