Organizing seminars and folk performances
As part of a series of activities to celebrate major holidays in 2025, on October 18-19, the Vietnam Folk Arts Association coordinated with the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology to organize a folk workshop and performance.
The program aims to honor and promote four typical intangible cultural heritages of Vietnam recognized by UNESCO, including: Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space, Southern Amateur Music, Nghe Tinh Vi Giam Folk Songs and Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Songs . This is an opportunity to affirm the role of the community, artisans and researchers in preserving, transmitting and promoting the value of national cultural heritage, while spreading the message of joining hands to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage .
Specifically, the scientific workshop “Humanistic treasures living with the preservation of Vietnamese ethnic folk culture and arts” took place on the afternoon of October 18 with the participation of researchers, cultural managers and typical artisans from many regions. Here, issues of preservation, teaching and promoting heritage values in contemporary life will be discussed in depth, associated with vivid evidence through performances.
The academic space is designed to be open, interweaving research - performance - exchange, helping participants feel the "liveliness" of heritage through the breath, rhythm and creative spirit of the community.
The folk performance program will take place over 2 days (from the afternoon of October 18 to the end of October 19), bringing visitors a journey through heritage areas, where sounds, rhythms and costumes blend in a multi-colored cultural space. Quan ho, Vi Giam, Don ca tai tu, Gong and xoang genres will be introduced in turn, recreating the unique features in customs, language and artistic spirit of each land.
Visitors, students, and researchers will have the opportunity to meet and interact directly with artisans, listen to stories about the craft, the village, and how people preserve traditional art through many generations. This is not only an opportunity to enjoy, but also an opportunity to learn, interact, and feel the heritage with all the senses, thereby nurturing love for national culture and awareness of heritage preservation in contemporary life.
The art troupes participating in the program include: Gong and Xoang Troupe (Kon Ko Lok Village Club, Quang Ngai Province), Amateur Music Troupe (Ca Mau Province Amateur Music Art Club), Vi and Giam Folk Song Troupe (Artisan Club of Ha Tinh Province's Folk Arts Association), and Quan Ho Folk Song Troupe (Tu Hoa Ancient Quan Ho Club, Bac Ninh).
