Detail

From November 14 to 24, 2025 , at Art Space, Vietnam University of Fine Arts (42 Yet Kieu, Hanoi), the international exhibition "Vietnam University of Fine Arts and friends" will take place.

The exhibition is held as a key activity in a series of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first course of the Indochina College of Fine Arts (1925-2025), the predecessor of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts.

The exhibition introduces 94 representative works by lecturers from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and art schools in the GoA9 network, a cooperative group of Asian art training institutions, along with 30 international prints from the US, Canada, Argentina, Italy, Poland, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

The exhibited works clearly demonstrate the spirit of innovation in visual thinking and expressive language. While oil and acrylic are popular materials in global fine arts, Vietnamese silk and lacquer creations bring unique highlights, affirming their own identity in the flow of contemporary Asian art.

In addition, sculptures, installations, and graphic designs have expanded the scope of creativity, reflecting the breath of life and people in the integration era. In 2023, the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and art schools in Thailand co-founded the GoA9 network, aiming at academic cooperation, lecturer exchange, exhibitions, and art research.

This exhibition is the second international exchange activity of GoA9, bringing together 7 universities from Vietnam, Laos and Thailand including: School of Fine Arts, Bunditpatanasilpa Fine Arts Institute (Thailand); School of Arts and Architecture, Lanna University of Technology, Chiang Mai (Thailand); School of Architecture and Creative Arts, Isan University of Technology (Thailand); School of Visual Arts, Thanyaburi University of Technology (Thailand); Lao National Academy of Fine Arts; Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts and Vietnam University of Fine Arts.

This exhibition offers a space for multidimensional artistic dialogue, where artists from many countries share their perspectives, emotions and creative methods.

Many Lao and Thai artists who studied in Vietnam such as Syvilay Saypasert, Khamsouk Keovongsay, Monkhon Klinthap, Chayarat Julsukol returned to attend the exhibition as both colleagues and friends of Vietnamese fine arts.

Each work is a story of cultural identity, regional memories and contemporary reflections. Viewers can feel the harmony between tradition and modernity, between skillful technique and free emotion, between the artist's ego and community spirit.

After 100 years of formation and development, Vietnam University of Fine Arts has become the cradle of modern Vietnamese fine arts, training and nurturing many generations of painters, sculptors, researchers, lecturers, who have contributed to the appearance of the country's art.

With an open, multi-material, multi-national exhibition space, the event has become a symbol of international artistic friendship, contributing to deepening the relationship between Vietnam and Asian countries, while spreading the message of art as a bridge of knowledge and humanity.
