Display of ancient Mid-Autumn lanterns restored from Do paper
The exhibition 'Lam' by artist Doan Thai Cuc Huong brings viewers back to their childhood memories through creatively restored traditional Mid-Autumn lanterns.
The exhibition will continue to be held at Quang San Art Museum, 189B/3 Nguyen Van Huong, Thao Dien, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City from October 3-12 and at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Hanoi from October 4-November 4.
The exhibition offers a fresh approach, combining tradition with a contemporary spirit. The works in the exhibition are all crafted from sustainable, environmentally friendly materials such as bamboo, dó paper, rattan, lacquer and natural earth tones. This choice not only honors the value of traditional craftsmanship but also affirms the artist’s commitment to sustainable development.
Each lamp, each small detail in the exhibition tells a story of folk culture that is continued and breathed into modern life. Lamps that were once forgotten are now revived vividly, becoming a bridge between the past and the present. The exhibition is also a tribute to the craftsmen, honoring their creativity and the desire to spread Vietnamese cultural values more widely.
Coming to "Lam", the audience will not only admire the works of art but also find a part of their own memories. The exhibition opens a new perspective on traditional culture, inviting the public to explore and feel the deep connection between culture, tradition and craft, thereby finding inspiration to look at old values with a new lens.
