Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 an impressive success

With the theme "Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts", the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 attracted about 120,000 visitors to Hue, an increase of 26% compared to the original estimate.

Specifically, the tourism effect was 65,300 stays (including about 25,500 international visitors), an increase of 17.6% compared to the estimate. Tourism revenue reached 194 billion VND, an increase of 25% compared to the initial estimate. It is estimated that about 300,000 tourists and locals came to visit and experience these festival activities, the revenue from these activities is estimated at more than 20 billion VND, a high increase compared to the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2019.

Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 aims at creativity and innovation, with the exhibition space "Creative Craft Design" at the Hue Craft Village Cultural Center with the participation of 22 units, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province; talk shows with the participation of famous experts. In particular, this year's Traditional Craft Festival has set 4 Vietnamese records, including: the product "Eighteen Arhats Statue made of jackfruit wood, the largest in Vietnam" by artisan Phung Huu Thai placed on Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking street; the product "Largest lotus leaf hat in Vietnam" by painter Nguyen Thanh Thao placed at Phan Boi Chau park; the product "Ruong Tam Quan Gate in Hue Royal Court style" by business household Le Dac Nguyen Xuan placed at Tu Tuong park and the dish "Hue-style mixed stir-fried vermicelli serving 1,000 people at once" at Thuong Bac park.

Mr. Vo Le Nhat, Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee affirmed that this festival has spread the excitement and pride of Hue people. Thereby, introducing and promoting Hue traditional crafts, Hue people and Hue image to friends and tourists near and far, contributing to stimulating tourism, developing the economy and services for the locality.

"The festival is gradually moving towards internationality with the participation of famous traditional crafts from a number of countries around the world, through the friendly cooperative relationship that Hue has established with its reputation. Among them, there are 37 artisans from 6 cities that have sister cities and cooperation with Hue from Korea and Japan participating. In particular, the participation of art performance troupes from Belgium, Korea... has created a colorful and impressive festival," said Mr. Vo Le Nhat.

Hue Traditional Craft Festival is held every two years in odd years to honor and spread the value of national cultural heritage; further improve production and business efficiency, innovate and create traditional craft products based on Hue culture and national culture. At the same time, this is an opportunity to strengthen joint ventures, partnerships, and investment cooperation in all fields, especially promoting socio-economic growth, bringing traditional craft products closer to tourism and domestic and international consumption markets.
