FIFA publishes a book about Infantino's 10 years. |
To mark the tenth anniversary of Gianni Infantino's presidency at FIFA, the world's largest football organization has released a book chronicling FIFA's transformation since 2016.
The book was written by Italian journalist Alessandro Alciato, who has previously written biographies for Andrea Pirlo and Carlo Ancelotti. It was distributed to FIFA Council members and presidents of member federations during the 76th FIFA Congress held in Vancouver on April 30th.
According to FIFA, the book compiles many noteworthy behind-the-scenes stories from Infantino's first 10 years in office. One of the most striking details is the tense meetings concerning women's access to professional football stadiums in Iran.
Additionally, the book recounts FIFA's transformation after the corruption crisis, the expansion of women's football, and the distribution of revenue to support global football development.
In his introduction, Infantino asserted that FIFA's success did not belong solely to him personally.
"I have never forgotten my most important goal: to help football develop globally and improve conditions for players in the 211 countries and territories under FIFA's jurisdiction," the FIFA president wrote.
He also extended his thanks to the continental federations, member federations, players, commercial partners, and fans worldwide.
Under Infantino, FIFA implemented several major changes, such as expanding the FIFA Club World Cup to 32 teams, increasing investment in women's football, and promoting anti-racism programs.
Gianni Infantino was elected President of FIFA on February 26, 2016, in Zurich, Switzerland, at a time when the organization had just gone through a serious crisis due to corruption scandals.
